        Hello Stanley,

        i am afraid to say that the beret as a whole gives me cause for concern....

        From reading your post i imagine that you have had your own doubts for a while?

        Patrick.

          Patrick.
          G'day Patrick, Yes, my doubt is about the circle of the badge, it must be in gold color, from which I compared to our fellow photos posted in this thread, mine one is different... may be fake though...

            Bonjour,
            Like Patrick, I have unfortunately the same assessment, some warning lights appear on this beret:
            - the bullion badge seems is too thick for me ;
            - I don't like the paper label (even if you could find original paper labels) ;
            - the "plastic leathered" sweet band seems too smooth and material little different than the original ;
            Sorry but that's my 2 cents...
            Cheers
            Valery

              Hi Stanley,
              Welcome to the forum, as per my pm to you your picture confirms my original assesement. These Hoang-Nam labeled berets were an early reproduction that originated in Hong Kong. They still fool many collectors as they are a rather close reproduction of the original. I also bought several of these when I first started collecting berets.
              They still pop up now and then but I still consider them usefull as a tool to help you identify features of an original in comparison purposes! Jeff
