The seller did not put many pictures on , but here is the third , notice the writing

Notice the Capital D and the exact small d and one think I didn't circle was the letter O , look how it comes out at the top of the O .

While passing no comment on authenticity or otherwise, the similarities you point out are undeniable!

I have an authentic Bader signature somewhere (signed by him at a Highland Games in the 70s/80s) that I will try to find. It is my wife's and I do not know where she has it.

The book looks authentic, however, I don't like the sob story nor the sellers attitude. In your second picture the signature is written with a different pen to the line beneath regarding the 'downed 15 machines...'. That looks added to me. It is not worth £39k IMO whether authentic or not.

Would you inform eBay as this item is not cheap at £39,000 and somebody is going to be disappointed

The seller will not return my emails as well

                Thanks for the link Smp
Now I am even more confused , in the eBay item he says and it says in the book

I purchased this autograph book which master Eric Powell collected. Was that master Sgt or master as in young man, taking signatures of pilots during the battle of Britain 1940/41? Not only British but Canadian,

In the telegraph article the signatures were collected by

Bar steward Norman Phillips kept the signatures of The Few in what was his autograph book

Just exactly as I thought , I bet at one time this was a small but genuine autograph book , but somewhere along the lines the (You know who ) have had there hands on it and added extra provenance and a few more high end signatures

I managed to blow up the Bader signature and if anyone could compare
And put there signature on to compare , it would be appreciated

Here are a few Bader signatures of the net and I havnt found one that matches the one in the book exactly
Your thoughts and please note the the people who added provenance also do signatures

The first signature is from the book

One thing that I did notice is that Bader does not put DFC , DCO or anything behind his name unlike the one in the book , so I looked again and came across this signature from an old eBay Item

It is the exact same as in the autograph book ,
                      I need MULDER and SCULLY

I know it a bit blurred but isn't it exactly the same ,
                        Thoughts please

In fact they have all been copied from this autograph book

Just to keep you informed , I have spoken to the seller a few times and he managed to contact the original owner , plus he photocopied the signatures himself and sold them on eBay , that is where the duplicates came from

                          Here is his reply

Thank you for photo looks a nice sunny day, I am pleased to have spoken to Eric Powell who said he confirmed it was his autograph book as it turns out he didn't physically get them. But as mother knew Stewart at RAF Martlesham Heath , where Douglas has your scrapbook which cost 9d after the war, Douglas Bader took the book to show Winston Churchill: the phone quite a long time. It is difficult to write everything down. I am not sure who made the case, it is in you did say there was RAF badge on it at one time, but that seems to have gone missing? The book appears to have gone all round the world getting signatures. The only inconsistency is Eric seems to think there was 121 signatures is unfortunately he is over 200 miles away, but I would have to go through leads to get to see him, I will make up my mind as there is a lot at stake. He said on the last page is KE Park, who was the officer in charge of 11 group the old airfield is now a housing estate

There are two main discrepancies ,
One the main owner did not get all the signatures himself. And secondly he only knew of 121 signatures

Which leads me to say as I did from the start , it is an original book but it has been tampered with and with it being around the world , who is to say it hasn't , I told the seller to get the hand writing analysed and he will know for sure , one way or other

                                Hi Allan,

Think my self it's a nice repro. The original ones had a matching number on both pieces and I think that a orginal one had the pocket on the right side of the frog instead of the left side. Correct me if I'am wrong.
