    Audie

Audie Murphy was a Bad Mamma-Jamma, no doubt.

I always heard stories of him sleeping with a loaded .45 under his pillow cause he thought somebody's relatives are going to come get him. He probably suffered some type of severe undiagnosed PTSD post-war.

I'm just waiting for FURY. I will no longer have to stare at WW2 Movies until I figure out what type of Tank they mocked up into a Tiger..this time...I get a REAL TIGER!!

I would advise using caution when interpreting medal citations, regardless of the medal, country, or time period.
I would advise celebrating heroes like Audie Murphy and Sgt Alvin York.

          Fury

There are also two ' mock up' Tigers used...............so maybe you will still need to work out which is real and which is not.

The real tiger will speak for itself
            It's big
            It's bold
The tank floats like a butterfly
            And stings like a bee

Wise words, I've an award doc in my collection given for the sinking of a Soviet U-boat, the captain of the vessel got the DKiG as well.....that same U-boat they 'sunk' is today on land as a memorial in Vladivostok having survived the war and later service. You can never blindly trust what one side believes they did to the other and I'm talking of the original combat reports here.

I TRUST what Audie Murphy did, (probably did more than cited) and in the memory of all the unsung heroes never recognized, I refuse to be a nay sayer....I honor these men, especially those like Murphy and York,,,the antithesis of a groomed professional soldier. just my Opinion

Sure he did what he did, what I'm saying is you can't trust estimates of what damage\casualties have been inflicted on the other side. It applies for any side in any war and a good indication that the numbers aren't perhaps quite as accurate as you may think is when they are a nice round number like 50, it could have been 36, it could have been 66. The only way to know would be through German records..and someone it seems has done the leg work

Getting the detailed facts straight is not nay saying, quite the opposite.

                        Isn't that the truth.

This thread is really getting off topic. A movie review to nit-picking our heroes.

As I am about ours, but I feel getting to the bottom of a story honours them all the more and if no one does it we do a disservice to future generations.

Think "Kelly Heroes" and the "Dirty Dozen"..... sometimes movies are simply just fun....

Plenty of realistic movies that are just boring and tedious....

Lets dust off "oddball" and have some good old fashioned FUN!

Anyone remember when Movies were simply fun?

Should we ignore westerns because the wild west was not really like that? Do we not watch Dirty Harry as no cop could function like that?
