                131

                There should be no confusion.

Facts are, 131 was taken to a site for filming and was covered in mud to disguise the colour scheme.

There are ALSO mock -ups being used, as in the one on Bruce C's website. This is so that actors could be filmed in a 'Tiger'. Earlier film website photo showed a mock-up turret being made, for that very purpose.
All this is publicly accessible on the net. I'm sure there's much more not publicised.

From comments here and on the director's website, the money -men behind the film felt that it's SO good, they provided the director with more money and said, go and film more action shots, hence the 'not so secret' filming at Bovington last week.

Sounds like it's going to be a cracker.

                SF.

To answer the question ' have they really covered it in mud'.

Yes, they took the option of using mud 'camo' as it's easy to apply and just as easy to remove. Paint is n't.

The current paint scheme is not original paint, BUT, is based on the many good quality photos Bovington have on archive from capture.
Many people have criticised the museum for repainting the tank when they restored it to running condition in the early 2000's.
What they forget is that the British army repainted it at least once before it ever got to the museum in the 1950's. So the paint many wish it still had, is not the paint applied by the Germans.
Don't figure, why people are so judgemental when they have little or no knowledge of the facts.

From what I've seen, the 131 footage in the film is going to be far better than anything previously.
Let's hope they maximised their time with this rare beast, although the film is actually about the museum's Sherman and crew.

There was no additional filming of 131 in action last week, but many publicity shots were taken, so let's see what the pre-release advertising is like.

I am looking forward to the film, despite not being 'into' war films. I hope it will be a well made, well told, story of the hell that is tank warfare in WW2.

                        SF.

                              Hi,
There's at least another Tiger in the film but not a real one saw it at the war and peace show a mock up on a American chassis?

I have a original colour photo taken by me approx. 44 years ago of the Bovington Tiger ,think it was in it's original colour scheame then?
