Also, I forgot to mention...you should be able to get a bus pass from the place you are staying. It will get you everywhere except the "nest" for free. We even used it to go the the Konigssee.
The public bus ride to the Bahnhof costed Eur 3.10. I took it from the nearby Halte close to the Dokuzentrum / Kehlstein Abfahrt Halte. I got a bus driver from hell who apparently took pleasure in weaving the little primary schoolers, along with me at the back seats, with high speed downhill driving and sudden break stops. A kid, halfway, even had to yell "Halt!" as the driver almost missed his stop. At that point, I thought I was gonna puck my guts out over the bus floor, since I was still recovering from the nauseating flight I took with the Tante Ju the day before.
(PS: My last comment was in no way directed to the skills of the fine pilots who did the smoothest take-off and landing I've ever had in an airplane, modern and historical (being the Tante Ju). I guess I was just not feeling too fit that day when I took the flight. Schade! Otherwise, I could have enjoyed my flight more.)
I've never seen someone posted the "famous house & room keys" as Frau Scarfenberg said to me when checking me in. So, here it is:
"Mr. Desember, please treat this house as your own house and make sure you always lock on the way in & out, as there are many people interested to get in"... Man, suddenly I was brought back to my boarding house days when Frau Scharfenberg greeted me with this in a stern and firm tone. A bit of a schock first to me as I usually stay at hotels who don't make demands to customers...well, this day services have gone downhill anyway. Anyway, she continued, "There will be breakfast at 7.30 and fell free to use the self-serve bar and please write down anything that you take. I hope you'll have a pleasant stay Mr. Desember". I said my thank yous and quickly went up to my room on the first floor, thinking, damn it why the hell didn't I just book at Interconti. But, things got better though, besides having no tv and wi-fi in the room... The room is spotless and the bathroom as well, not even a hair strand on the bed or towels (I'm very peculiar about this thing) and the surroundings were very quiet. When I opened the terrace (Balkon) window, there they are... staring me at the face, the former Berghof and Untersberg. Finally, it's dawned on me, I've made my dream trip! Here are some photos of the rooms and view from the terrace. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to throw out silly questions my way as they might just make your future trip more enjoyable...

I've got some more photos uploaded, but apparently imageshack is crapping out again, sorry. I'll post some more later.
