All that is left is what was called the Skyline Lodge and that is in a bad state although it looks like it is being restored/altered to be used as a cafe.

                      Really nice thread !

It should be moved to the living history forum although !

You know, Soviet, even though this thread began with an EK 2 (I think.... ), you're absolutely right! I'll move it!

                          Hope that's ok for Tim.

Really informative thread. I will have to look at it, next time I go to Berchtesgaden. I would love to see a thread like this on Berlin.

The now and then history is so fascinating !

What's the transport system like there? Do you have to drive or are there local busses to get around on?

                            Cheers

I believe there are public buses to and from Berchtesgaden (there is a bus stop near the Platterhof car park) but I have no idea how regular they are.

I had to throw all the tourists off the mountain to get this picture.
Wasn't keen on their choice of clothing. Bright stripes of yellow, red, green, blue and white.
                                They were ruining my photo!
                                Tim,
                                Great photos.
From the Obersalzburg did you continue walking up the path? There's a magnificent tall carved wooden cross a few hundred meters up from the tea room-cafe.
Unfortunately, when I last was there with my wife(1995) fog made it impossible to admire the view.
Bought some great pewter pieces across the town stream and up the hill.
                                Thanks for sharing this.
