Here's the shot from the balcony. Not too far off from all the footage you've seen taken on the patio above the Berghof garage, which was just a couple hundred meters to the East.
Last pic for today gentlemen (and ladies). That terrible, awful, disgusting thing called "work" becons once again!Attached Files

and on this day the British bombers actually hit their target! Well, it was 617 Squadron, and daylight with no fighter opposition.
Sorry Marcus!
;-)
Cheeky so and so, arh but you see, we predominantly bombed by night, you guys during the daylight hours.
You Americans couldn't even hit it when your saw it, so we had to do the job properly and of course show you how it was done (He says )
In other words, 50/50 by guess and by god and we were lucky that time ....you chose a one in million raid
Take care,
Marcus
Tim the next time I walk the dog, I'll take some pic's of Grafton Underwood were the first and last bombs were dropped by the 8th, Ilve right next to it.<!-- / message --><!-- attachments -->

Hello Tim,
Great! Yes, the view from our window was the same, or similar, as that shown. The trees were quite a bit smaller in those days. I'll see if I can find my photos from the dark ages (pre digital). I'm glad to see that the Bormann guest house was not torn down (along with the Platterhof). I had thought that one was also removed. I wish they'd restored it instead of making it into a glasshouse.
ErichFestina lente!
