I know I'm off topic...but getting back to what I mentioned a couple of posts earlier, yesterday night at 10:01 p.m. Central Time our family photo blasted off to the ISS on board of Soyuz TMA-04M where it will remain for the 6 months as part of Expedition 31. Kosmonaut Gennady Padalka will take a photo of the photo at one point floating with him in the station.

Thanks for stopping by yesterday afternoon Jaime.

The book looks even better than I had imagined! I couldn't believe my eyes when my wife opened it and I saw that its completely in hi-res colour!

All of my other first 10 copies shipped out now to veterans who helped make the book. They understandably enjoy top priority.

More copies are do to arrive within 2-3 weeks I assume.

No..., no...no, Thank you my friend!!!!!!

I believe that the book is a superb example done with great dedication, I find that the forward done by the man that evacuated Wisch form Normandy gives a great significance to this work......

                Congratulations again!!!

The book was originally SS historian Mark C. Yerger's idea and he convinced me to do it. He approached me by PM on WAF to do a book similar to his on Weidinger and Krag. I had NO idea how much work was involved. Mark was there for my 100s of questionsabout writing, production, design, and made me continue when frustration happened. And he gave access to his archive. In return he asked for ZERO money, material, or other compensation. I did the book for Wisch and so did he with regards to his time and effort contributed towards the project.

                    Markus,

I just went through all of this and now want to read this book. I don't know of any historian who collected original documents beforehand to make the book. I have no interest in the S.S. at all, but really want to read about this gentleman now!!!

One question though: There is a medal you posted from the Confédération Européenne des Anciens Combattants.. what is this? I am very confused. Thank you!

                      Hi Sam,

Thanks for your post and I'm glad you are interested in reading the book, not having a specific interest in the SS.

The Confédération Européenne des Anciens Combattants is a private organization which was founded in 1917 in Paris, France. Its members dedicate their work to protect the moral and material patrimony of war veterans and the victims of war.

The cross is awarded to those who dedicate themselves to peace, liberty, a united Europe and the education of next generations on the sacrifices and horrors wars bring.

They also have a French website for more infos:

                      Cheers!

                        Congratulations Markus

Got my copy recently and great data and images. Few grasp what it takes to make the end product look exactly as you wish regards photos, captions, and other details. I'm sure Otto and Teddy would be pleased with the end result and why it was done.

To bad others don't take the time to do similar books on other KC holders.

But the work involved is to much for many compared to photo books with 1 line captions.

                          Letter from Mr. Jupp Steinbüchel

                          Dear friends,

To my pleasant surprise the following letter, written by Sepp Dietrich and Teddy Wisch's former radio operator SS-Oberscharführer Jupp Steinbüchel (92) reached me in past days.

Mr. Steinbüchel assisted me greatly throughout the project and his personal inside reports on serving under both men in combat during the Russian campaigns and Normandy were essential to making the book.

I will always be in debt with him.

                          Dear Markus,
                          <O</O
First of all, thank you very much for the very successful chronicle of the life of Teddy Wisch with excellent photos. The surprise to send me a copy of the book was a full success. I'm excited, since the text wakes up old memories that I had almost forgotten over time. There’s only a small bunch of us former comrades left and it becomes lonely. The remaining time is running irretrievably ahead, with this we have to live and cope.<O</O

                          Warm regards,<O</O

I should have at least attached this photo of Jupp in his black Panzer uniform yesterday night.
