Love the book Markus and congratulations on the recognition received from HIAG, I can only begin to imagine the effort and sacrifices it must take to put something like this together. I can only recommend other buy a copy too.

    Best Regards,

Thank you Christian and Besslein! I'm so glad you all liked it.

I did this global shot the past weekend for another thread, so I figured I'd just post it here as well.

        Cheers ya'll.

            Volksbund

Yesterday I received my first royalty-payment from Schiffer Publishing for the sales of my "Wisch" biography.

I have doubled the amount and donated it to the "VOLKSBUND DEUTSCHE KRIEGSGRÄBERFÜRSORGE e.V.", as Theodor Wisch would have wanted it.

            www.volksbund.de

            Kind regards,

            Markus Lippl

I am immensly impressed. Wisch has always been one of my favorite WSS commanders.

                  Thank you Fred.

A commander deeply admired by many of his men and very close to his troops.

"A very quiet and modest man, who never wanted to stand in the foreground", as his and Sepp Dietrich's radio operator told me.

                      A new Wisch telegram added...

A big thanks to WAF member "Oberbootsmann" and another friend for giving me the heads-up on one of the Wisch telegrams which was just auctioned and which I was able to win this past Friday.

It's from then SS-Oberführer Heinz Lammerding (KC & GCiG) at the time leading SS-Panzer Kampfgruppe "Das Reich", congratulating Wisch on his Oakleaves and promotion to Brigadeführer, additionally wishing Teddy and his "proud" division lots of "Soldatenglück"!

It's one of the best telegrams from the estate and I had lost out on it more than 10 years ago when it was bought by another collector almost in front of my eyes...!

                      Thanks again for the tip!

                        Postwar HIAG items

This for Peter ("SS3") and our shared interest in post-war HIAG wall plaques.

This example from the estate of Oscha Waldemar Heinrich, half-brother of Theodor Wisch.

Nice plaque and what a great item to collect, do you have and others Markus and are you actively collecting these Peter?

Can we see the telegram? That is a great day to get this after missing it all those years ago, a great addition to all the other Wisch items you are the caretaker of Markus!

                          Happy Hunting!

                            Hi Kev!

Below the new one from Lammerding. (note Wisch's personal "paraphe" on the top right corner)

Believe it or not, but I enjoy these more than most of my actual award documents...!

Regarding the HIAG plaques: I don't really actively persue these. The three I've got I got from the men directly as a present during my visits.

I appreciate postwar material more than many other collectors. Maybe since most of it was directly obtained and given to me and it bears a more special place in my heart. There's nothing in my collection which could be superior to my personal vet experiences. The uniforms, insignia, medals and docs I have, had near zero importance to the vets themselves. They only have importance to us goofey collectors.

Important to them are/were memories, values and maaaaybe photos, but no physical medal, cypher, etc.

Thanks to you I actually got this telegram. Money wasn't the factor. Still the same Friday while the auction was 3 hours from closing, I asked myself why adding another telegram to the 10 or 15 I already have...!

Then, thanks to your 2 or 3 kicks in the butt, our telcons and emails, I finally put in my bid which sealed it.

As I wrote in the Wisch bio acknowledgments my friend: If it hadn't been for you, insisting with me to buy and buy Wisch items, the group and the book wouldn't be what it is today....

In the end I'm always happy with my acquisitions.

You know me, I'm too "subborn" and "brainy" sometimes asking for the sense behind all this collecting, but "thanks" to you I always end up adding more and more items...Now is that good or bad?!!?!?

Hey, and I still got the awesome sniper combat photos as well....!
(probably THE best actual combat photos (smoke, guns, troops, fire) I've got in my collection)
