    Any DAK items

    Hi Michael,

Welcome! I look forward to your participation.

I'm not an expert on these badges, but can certainly offer photos of originals (from reference books) for comparison. I am certain that field made examples do exist and there's some indication that many were Arab made for the troops. Below is a photo of a hand made badge taken from the Schiffer book, page 327.

To add photos, click the "manage attachments" link below the proferred message. Then locate the desired photo a select. Press "upload photos" and wait until complete (usually takes a few seconds). Then click "submit reply" when finished composing message and you're golden.

    Best Wishes,

Christopher (from an ICE COLD Chicago [-24 with wind chill]).

      Christopher:

      Thank you very much!
I opened this reply window but I do not find a "manage attachments link" here.
I quess I'm just lost. Where exactly do I find this link?

I would be very pleased to see the pictures you offered of this badge.

      Again, thank you,

      Mike

Here's another example from Dal McGuirk's book, "Rommel's Army in Africa".

The "manage attachments" link is in the "Additional Options" section.

Very nice original em's Cap Mike. Not too sure about the Officers as I think we'd need to take a better look at it. A couple of concerns about the Officers but the em's is definitely good.
Welcome to the forum, quite a good place to meet so many great collectors and good friends.

Thanks Mark. I have been impressed with the amount of knowledge and experience I see here. I always enjoy chatting with collectors who conduct themselves in a professional manner. As the curator of a Military History museum I meet a vast number of amateurs who have not done nearly enough homework!

I got the officers M-41 from a young German collector in Frankfurt back in the 70's (I was probably younger than he at the time however.) The eagle was missing when I got it. A few months latter I bought the eagle at the famous Frankfurt Flea Market and applied it myself. I realize that having bought the cap so long ago is no guarantee of authenticity. But with it in your hand it does sing (to me)!

                          Indeed, Welcome!
I agree with Mark regarding the officers cap, but your m40 (not m41) is superb.
(I also agree with your comment on manners)
                          Best Regards,
                          Mark.

Grant really nice caps posted. Like that salty green interior on the KM too.
MarkNZ's KM as well. I too prefer salty over unissued items.

Welcome Mike, look forward to your help & comments. While i can not comment on that badge, that is nice EM cap. I too share some concern for your Officers cap, the font is not quite correct for this maker ? But i am not the one to make the call. Look forward to seeing more of your collection and your knowledge.

This thread is just getting better and better.....the amount of knowledge on the DAK shared by one and all, only wets the appetite further for each of us.

My two favorite acquisitions of 07'. Got a nice, early pair of corduroy riding breeches for the tunic. Already been offered & rejected 4K for the blanketcoat. NOT FOR SALE! Please NO more inquiries. I just love the stuff.

Grant, I have an M-40 cap by the same manufacturer. Stamp is very faded, but looks exctly like yours'. Same construction and has a thin black oilcloth type sweat shield inside. Your caps are very nice!

Thanks for the "hello" Tim and to NZMark for posting the photos of the tunic and soldier for me. I have taken Mark's advice and just became an association member so that I can actively participate. The main reason I have joined is to learn and I have loved going back and reading all the great DAK threads and messages..so many great photos & info! Please excuse me if it takes some time to learn your rules for posting.
