        Here is my latest creation, an ensemble of a late war Japanese impression
        (1/2 mannequin), a Japense"home front" soldier (NCO) in 1945.

        He is wearing their version of the German M44 short tunic...
        So its an "austerity" pattern simplified tunic
        (austerity = Government reduces its spending).
        Also known as "Home Front Battle Wear" tunic. Such tunics were only seen in Japan, never left the island as far as I know.

        The Japanese soldier on home front duty was often stripped of all front line equipment as Pacific island defenders were getting equipment priority...
        so instead of a belt and pouches a simple bread bag was used to store, besides his personal belongings and food, also ammo, cleaning kit etc...
        Also depicted a map case (its a senior NCO) and a named personal kit bag.

                  Back to Canadian:
                  Princess Louise 4th Dragoon Guards Lieutenant dress tunic.
                  The 4th PLDG was attached to the 1st Canadian Division and served in Italy
                  and later NW Europe campaign as a recon (cavalry) unit.

                    The Canadian Pr.Louise Dragoon Guards Reg.(4th PLDG) mech.recon has its origins from Cavalry;
                    note horseheads on collar dogs!
