If I Understand well your question, IMO depending by the condition of your's canteens. If you have only mint canteen, you won't have any kind of problem. If you have used e/or abused canteen, You may have some problem.
The area where you're talking to is the most sensitive area is the area under greater stress (if we're talking about a hypothetical use on the battlefield). So be careful with them

      Hello all,

what do we know about sku1945 canteens ?
I had two of them without cups, now I received this one with MN43 cup.
I thought the cup was replaced, although it seems it has always been on that canteen... but then, I saw another sku1945 on eBay ! Almost identical to mine (leather, black thread, black buckle, cloth cover and buttons with "flower"...) and again with MN43 cup !
      http://www.ebay.de/itm/251819691695

      And another one:
      http://www.ebay.de/itm/391036500848

Is there a connection between MN and sku ? Did MN change their Code to the official three letter lower case code and was then called sku ?

Another clue is the earlier MN 1944 stamping on canteens that was also in a circle, just like the sku 1945 stamp.

      Regards,
      Christian

FSS is probably "Frenzel & Sachs, Schneeberg"

I love the canteens, and this isn't a new for you dear friends
And, when is possible, I always take canteens for my collection.
2 days ago it's arrivaed my last catch from ebay (good private agreement, of course IMO), a nice WWE37 in TOP condition (not minty unfortunately). But to find early canteens with natural brown straps it's not easy as you know, expecially in this conditions.
There are two pictures, a comparison with a TOP ones (what I love and prefered) and an "been there". I love both, but the WWE 37........
                This is my N°87

carbine hook is not grey (color near to trinkwasser bottles dunkelgelb?) , and lid looks like added pre 45 field made (any one seen similar lid before? maybe it is replaced from different thing), interesting cover type.

Normally I'm not a fan of early stuff but this canteen really came to my attention. Interesting to see there is a inkstamp on the back of the Felt? Can't really make it out but I would like to know what it means. Maybe someone here can decipher it or compare it to another similar canteen with a similar stamp? The canteen is a all matching "C&CW 38" and it came together with a mint RZM m1910 messkit.

                              Thanks in advance
