What were his awards, just as a point of curiosity?
I see that he got to Russia too late for the Russian Front medal.
Would Badge, other then posthumous? EK2? Police Long Service?
Party member awards since he's wearing the Alterkampf ehrenwinkel?

The old fighters chevron in his case is for former members of the Police. Although it appears to be an SS version used rather than the police green.

In fact the opposite is true. Most of the people throw away anything related to the Third Reich - expecially SS. If they kept clothing items, in most cases they removed insignia - more often at SS than Wehrmacht. The fear of the consequences was very high in those days.
Very few "untouched" items have survived.

          .

You've missed my point, this grouping is an example that not all groups or tunics were thrown away/disposed of/insignia removed -and this is an SS example, even more interesting! For some dyed in the wool families, or just possibly even a personal respect for their relative, or pure just didn't do it for whatever reason- they left it as is. I'm sure there are more like it out there.

          Best Regards,

          Pete

            That’s odd.
When did they stop using the sleeve diamond?

              Police ID

Since there are some questions regarding his awards and service, I am posting few photos of his Police ID and Wehrpass, as well as few pictures. I am not awards or document person, so maybe other more experience collectors here can figure it out from those scans. It looks like he joined NSDAP in 1930.

              First his Police ID

                      last photos

His last photo probably developed after his death. Rusty mark is from paper clip that was used to hold it to the letter that was written to his wife after his death by his commanding officer.
Last photo shows his grave. You can see his helmet with a hole from shrapnel that killed him.

I have no idea but have a look at Angolias cloth insignia book. Former police who joined the Waffen SS had an honor chevron they were entitled to wear. It had a star embroidered in the center. This officer chose the old fighters style apparently he was an old Brownshirt.

Wow!...this really makes it a personalized group!

How much are kidneys selling for? Would it get me close to the asking price? I’d find no need to own another SS uniform if I had such an outstanding group. Doesn’t get any better.

Best provenance I've ever seen on any TR item.

                                Hi Alexander,

It appears two things are mixed-up; the old fighters/honor chevron (for those who joined the Party before 1933) was issued in a SS and Polizei version, indeed as said by J. Pic, adhering to the rules when joining the SS coming from Polizei it should have been the version with black backing and emboided star, this was obviously often ignored.

The sleeve diamond you refer to is something different; this was for those Polizei members (potentially NCO's only) who had been transferred to the W-SS and who later returned to the Polizei again.

                                BR
