Research Soviet Film Studio Markings with regards to Pink Smocks

I don't know how much Italian cloth was captured but enough to make almost everything the Germans wanted.
Here's a zelt.


Where is a pink zelt ?

It's beyond a valid question

And the helmet covers ?

They might not have made any . There are no dot covers are there (at least real ones) ? No SS camo paratrooper helmet covers yet they made some smocks. Frankly, if someone had faked these smocks it would have been a whole lot cheaper and less work to make some helmet covers which would have been a higher percentage profit item and used up scraps. I'd be more concerned about these if there WERE helmet covers.

I explored the dot subject and found it wanting.
Here is a dot jump jacket and dot helmet cover.
However I feel the helmet cover is post war from original fabric and parts.

But you got to accept that the fakers were busy in the late 1960s early 1970s

You must understand that.

Of course none of us KNOW what the thinking really was, but we no that it was driven by constraints at various times.

The question is not Oak vs Dot, but rather HBT vs duck. In this case it is Zelt quality duck vs pink smock quality duck......which is very close (IMO) but not there in terms of weight/durability.....not to make a tent!

The Germans reached the same conclusion when they made SS smocks out of HBT but no Zelts out of it.......of course.

Collectors wring their hands and ask, Why? Because every meter of heavy duck not used in smock manufacture was now available for the more critical zelts. This is not my opinion but rather in a document from Pohl.

One thing I neglected to mention, on the box stampings the large number is the inventory or catalog number of the actual item. This corresponds with paper tags attached to outside of the garment.

As one can see the vaults are not completely stocked with great examples.
