Nice...okay who is making these things? All kidding aside, very nice jacket and reasonable price.

Pictured smiling on the left is German Cross in Gold winner SS-Untersturmführer Gerhard Mahn. He was the Zugführer (platoon leader) of 4. (schwere) Zug. 11. Kompanie heavy weapons company, III.Bataillon (gepanzert) SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 9 "Germania".

Both men are wearing the SS Dot Camo HBT uniform with the tunic tucked into the trousers. This was a common practice by the men serving in this unit.

Remy there is an outside chance that a number and manufacturer stamping may signify an on-seller.
Or chain of contract. One stamping made the actual garment, then the other stamping released it? Possibly not the same manufacturer.
        Does that make sense?

Unless there are other pieces out there stamped 644, my guess for now is that it's a production run number for this particular cap. Again this is just a guess until we have more concrete evidence to prove otherwise.

A section of original wartime production dot camo (Erbsentarn) HBT material.

I took this photo back in the 1990s when I was really into studying Waffen-SS camouflage.

At the time I had written an article on Waffen-SS camo winter uniforms for the French magazine
MILITARIA and this photo was going to be used in a follow up article which I never managed to finish. I may eventually scan the images I have on file and post them in this thread.

At the time I photographed this I didn't think to measure the width of the material.
The length measurement didn't matter since this was only a section cut from a huge roll.

What is interesting to study is the way the camo pattern is laid out from left to right and
also from top to bottom how the pattern is repeated.

The piece of material shown in the photo is the HBT weave used to make the Model 44 tunic and pants.

Hello Remy, are you sure that cloth section is hbt? The odd teal green is quite peculiar to the dot winter cloth.

Yes Scott. It's 100% HBT material. This is the text book dot pattern used to make the M44 uniform in HBT and smooth cotton.

The dot camo pattern used for the winter parka is slightly different then the pattern used to make the HBT uniform. I have made a study on this back in 1990s and will post more on this subject later. I also will present comparison photos showing the differences of the two patterns.

Do you have a close up of this fabric .

Its always nice to see untouched bolts like this.

Here is a nice clear photo of SS-Hauptscharführer Hans Höflinger, wearing a newly issued WSS dot camo panzer wrap. He was a Tiger tank crewmen commanded by tank ace Michael Wittmann in Normandy June 1944.

                        For all,

Imho an mystery has been solved finally on one of the number "43"

At this link an 43 is for sale but has an critical detail that identifies the manufacturer.

                        http://ww2germanmilitaria.com/galler....asp?ref=P-U-7

Only Ravenbruck used this type of cloth at underside for the collar insted of the HBT in 1943.

                        Regards,
                        Ron
