I have seen pockets flaps and bags sewn flat for Heer tailor made tunics and we did this with dress tunics in the US Army for a smarter appearance.

The tunic is quite worn, but gently, and soiled. The collar cloth shows more soiling than the collar tabs and a quite clear difference can be seen.
I also observe that this is a quite high ranking officer and I think he would have gotten a "new" fresh tunic in those early years rather than using that old worn one when promoted.

I have seen heer field marshals tunics which were upgraded older tunics with name tags stating colonel rank. FM Ewald von Kleist is the example. The Germans were coming out of a depression and were more frugal and did not easily disgard clothing. I would expect an SS major to have more than one tunic, one for dress occasions and one for service.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

Absolutely correct. The generations pre-45 did use anything until the last drop and throwing something away was unthinkable.

I have seen this before and in that thread it was a vital clue towards what later came to be exposed as a fake.
One should not dismiss a tunic because of this but one should not swallow theories like they used everything over and over again, so all mixes are "normal", without critical thinking and a sceptical mind.

Be careful out there. Without rock solid iron clad evidence this tunic should be valued as a parts tunic IMHO.

          Cheers

Christopher, there are no pictures of the aguillette.

Could you please post some good, closeup pictures of the needles or points of the aguillette, and the tops of the needles, known as the bells?

The aguillette is obviously a very important part of this tunic.

            Thanks.

              Hello,

I am pretty sure that its an army aguillette because it doesn't have any ss runes like i have seen on other examples. Also there isnt a button under the shoulder strap to attache an aguillette.

Also, there is an cloth rzm tag under the shoulder board...never noticed it before.

              Regards,
              Chris G.

Chris, thanks for the pictures of the aguillette.

For sure it is an army model.

Could you please take a picture of the other side of the needles, so that its full construction can be viewed?

                        Thanks,

Right on all - I owned a tunic that was labeled to Oberst Bahn, with Generaloberst insignia. Research found Gen Bahn was posted to a Officer Training center in Norway. The uniform was correct in all ways and showed little use, even from his Oberst days. This is the actual uniform with labels, inside pocket tag for Oberst bahn.

Tell me about it! I'd give my first born son to own something like this!

Impressive piece of kit! It all looks original to me! Great find!

As Ian stated the RFSS tag in the armband is a reproduction. Which would make the armband itself one also. The cufftitle while having a convincing tag and look has a backing material that is usually but not always attributed to some very early repros done in England. I have had a Schule Tolz that was one of these and was bought as such. What are the patches in the interior armpits were there belt ramp holders original there and cover over after removal. I would look very closely at the cuffs. Are they the exact same material as the rest of the tunic. How are they constucted This looks alot like a converted post war harbor police tunic.

Ok the ONLY real 61/35 armband tag is when the 61 is side by side with the 35 !! 61 OVER 35 is a KNOWN FAKE there are NO real ones, thsoe who say otherwise are incorrect.
