It does make me laugh that if the dealer was anyone but Bill Shea there would be so more awful comments. (Christ, if this was on Craig Gottileibs site or Kai Winklers at this price, it would be tarred and feathered.).

I would like to see some proof and facts.

The fact that it has passed through certain dealers hands (or respected collectors hands) doesn't make it absolute.

I believe if the discussion was with a European based tunic and European based dealers there would be more open negativity.

Re-reading this, I am not knocking Mike Davis or in fact anyone else connected to the tunic.

Proof adds $, £ and e's not just who owned it.

I believe the law of supply and demand still holds even in 2012. Bill Shea could ask $100,000 and that is perfectly fine. If it is truly worth it it will sell. If it is not then it won't. If he was offering it for $5,000 what would everyone say then? Would you say wow, what a stand up guy and what a really fair price or wow what a "steal". Personally I would say gee must be a fake! If Warren Buffet decided to collect SS items or anything else for that matter he would single handedly drive up the market. Not just because he could pay high prices for anything. In fact he would drive hard bargins. But the supply would dry up and the prices would rise non the less. Be glad the really BIG boys don't want to play in this game. Also remember the dollar is being devalued continuously so for all foreign buyers $34,000 starts to look cheep in their currency. Imagine when the yen was 250 to the dollar. Now it is 81. The dollar has fallen by 40% since 2003. David

Therein lies the answer! It was no coincidence that prices on Bill's and alot of other US dealer sites went through the roof, 2008 ---> and through subsequent Quantitative Easing.....1.......2.........and who knows when QE3 is coming...!!!

Fishing for fools offshore pays better, especially when their currency has more buying power! Great way to triple your money, assuming you find a buyer....

Crazy also given the fact that he has a Summer Tunic named to an SS Brigadeführer for 11.5k cheaper..... Bizarro world.

Yes, and in the mid-Y2K there were plenty of them around. However now-a-days, 'The Fool and His Money Has Long Since Departed'. (generally speaking)

Now the time for all you guys that have a NCO Tunic to put yours up for $20K, and then tell all why it's better than the one with The Duck.
$6K-collector price in 2003. In 2012, $34K Big Dealer price. somethings wrong.

More the crowd jabbers about the superiority of "untouched" uniforms over restored, splashing mud on restored and praising "untouched" tunics, and more you see these ridiculous prices, because restored won't go down, only "untouched" up.

I dont what to be a dick... but I know today's younger generation as a whole (because I am a part of it) is pretty ignorant of history. These prices will continue to rise - rise - rise. until all at once the old collectors decide its time to liquidate their collection.. and at this point, unless we get younger collectors into the hobby... they will be forced to sell their $35,000 tunics for pennies on the dollar because there simply is no one to take it off their hands. Rising prices segregate the new collectors and without them.. who will take on the torch once we are all dead and gone. Do we want this hobby to continue? Or to die with us and our selfishly greedy selves...

Rant over - too much beer - and too much jealousy at not owning an NCO SS M-36

Military collectables with time only go up and if you think Third Reich staff is expensive take a look what happens with Russian Imperial staff for example, this Russian colonel's tunic circa 1910, which is only 30 years older than SS uniform

or this 1910-s Russian officer's saber

The Russian market is absolutely other than a overseas market. Third Reich items there is over 20-50% expencive, than in the rest of the world. But at this moment I think the Russian market is down, due of economics. 70% buyers in the Russian market at the moment buys cheaper stuff like the canteens and gasmasks, whilst most of the Europe and the USA recover after the fall. The SS items is not easy sellers, and allmost all expencive items needs to be handinspection first, or at least bought by loyal customers- will never published in the web, due item sold "offline" and some customers did not want them to publish anyway

Well- when we are crying&waiting for the price to drop, we can buy this one at only 8,600 us.

Its a long way from the magical 34,000us.
