Its the same as if I bid on an item in an auction held in Beijing.... I dont speak the lingo and yet I am putting all my faith with the auctioneer that what is being sold is legitimate. Completely idiotic if you ask me.

The fakers and swindlers of this world only stay in business because there seems to be an inexhaustible supply of idiots who are ready to hand over copious amounts of cash for utter crap!

Hi Felix, I don't think that it will be shown here, as it was called fake without been seen.
There is a new way of checking authenticity, they just use a glass bowl and sit from a distance and ask their bowl if the items are authentic, and these people refer to other people as suckers because they seen and like the stuff

Besides that questionable people are asked for history of the group and they lie.
That's all.

You know when I lived in Germany in the early 80s I met many former Wehrmacht soldiers and all said the same thing time after time...that most SS items were destroyed and little was left after the war and what was was difficult to find... and ten years ago in these forums European colectors were saying the same thing......now it grows on trees and appears monthly.

About the badges, I don't have any in my collection to compare, do you have one?
However, when other people here( wich knowledge I respect) says there are problems with them, then I believe them.

I take it you mean the dealer.......(person who is now subject of selling high end fakes for a lot of money? Or the Witt family member that used to own it.....? Which one?

And i suppose that in the group you saw photos that beyond a doubt show Witt with the same uniform.......?

More than likely it has photos and probably good ones, yet I doubt that under a careful analysis and an objective thinking that you can match the tunics to the uniforms in the photos....

So I take it that for some here if the dealer says its good, ....... is enough,

come on guys we know better than that......

Sometimes people just want to believe what the dealer says so bad that end up believing it themselves and upholding it to the death, when the objective and simple fact is: that It can be a put together group around documents with added tunics…

wouldn´t be the first time...

And more over, if the dealer has been known to sell fakes. Then the risk is higher….

And at the end, if you didn’t get it from the family member yourself without all this making a lot of $$$ clouding the issue you just can’t tell….

Let the items speak for themselves.....

I doubt that in one visit with all the excitement one is calm enough to really analyze things, this purchase would require a lot of analysis, talking to the family that owned them and matching the pieces to the group with evidence....

Not just a dealers word and piece of paper.....

especially after what we know they´ll do for $$$$.

Well as we can all see, no matter what the evidence, given by those that know the truth and talked to the family, some people just want to believe the fantacy given by the dealer.....

Even though you tell them its a put together, that the group never had tunics...that the helmet is a post war present to a family member....

NO!! No !!!! it has to be true it has to be true...!!

they just want the dealers story to be true and guess they will defend it to the death.....its a question of ego.... They want to make the lie come real

Yet in some years... those who know the truth will be laughing at the prowd owners of the Witt estate sold by this dealer.....

But at the end the biggest laugh is by the dealer that gets away with it
