But each time I went back to look I disliked it more and more! I suppose the customer that called wanting an SS M44 did not like what was whipped up for him, it may have taken another put together or two to satisfy him and Kai is now stuck with this diamond!
Man I wanted to beleive! sad fact is that sombody will beleive and wind up with this gem as a centerpeice!
Best regards gents, Great thread!

At one point I was considering this one too....although it is so mint it makes mint stuff look like relics... As you say, a built to order tunic.
Restoring is one thing but trying to sell it at un-messed with prices is another.
He had a Das Reich Hauptscharführer's tunic I think it was several years ago now, it looked well worn and the cuff and tabs had matching wear...
That was one of the few that has actually sold off his website in recent memory, although I never saved pics...and I gather it too was most likely a BTO...

Since this thread is all about Hermann Fegelein's tunic. I want to throw this one out there to see what people think.
I came across this photo in a book today and was puzzled by Fegelein's tunic with no insignia with the exception of the shoulder boards. Is this regulation or some special custom made tunic just for him?
By the way the photo was taken in July or August 1944.Attached Files

The same with mint tunics the owner was captured wearing in 1945, sold with a photo taken 2 years earlier in the same tunic. How long do people think a tunic lasts in combat worn daily (and stay mint). With a pair of initials on a label the "proof of ownership."
Common sense often lacking, but those who want to believe will believe. And an army ready to sell them their fantasy.

Killed while playing cards with his comrades by ships off the coast of Normandy......if he only know that all the Uniforms he left at home which appear to be all of them, he must've been playing in his underwear ( but we know thats not the case becasue we have pictures of moments before his death)...would be "found" again and debated.Attached Files
