Actually Beobachter made his statement by looking at a shared pic while Mr. Pic made his comments out of the blue.

Anyway: it is too bad that he could not keep the fine tunic he shared with us but maybe he will discover another one sooner or later.

Maybe even I - who never owned/owns any tunic as of yet - will be able to aquire something nice in that direction one day.

Never say never in this hobby.

But Beobachter's statement could be correct for a casual observer he is correct...you never know. However who is he and where did he gain his expertise and knowledge of SS uniforms ? How long has he been in the hobby? Noboby knows...he is just some guy who goes by the pseudonym "Beobachter" which means "Observer" in German..so he is an observer...and of what...maybe he is really good with a needle and thread..you never know... he also in Paris...hmmm you never know.

This is me Beobachter and Thorsten so you can see who I am...Im the big one with the Military jacket standing with my friends Norbert and Klaus, here whom I worked and trained with.

You could have been James bond or Vladimir Poutine, the problem would have been the same.

The goal is not to promot one dealer. Don't speak of pieces you did not see. that is the minimum to respect.

This is what I have to say about that...opinion is a free thinking mans right. I have a sense of duty to the collector community to let them know when something will happen that will effect them in some way..either price manipulation to set market values or the possiblity of things that will have them in Awe but not thinking until its too late...you did see the blogsite with the fake Herman Goering awards and you did read the thread about the Conrath documents and hopefully you do not believe a box with 100 SS tuxedo badges was actually produced out of the woodwork...that do not match any originals in collections.....when I heard that Fritz Witt's and Heinz Macher's uniforms were supposedly recovered from the families...despite years of other people being told by family members no uniforms were left after the war. I felt the community needs to know these things are out there...with a story. Whether they are "original" or not.

Now does that ruin the sale or collectability of them...not if you or anyone else who saw them believe they are original...nothing I say can change that and arguing is beating a dead horse...But what you have revealed if it is the same dealer...well his reputation alone will do more damage than any one persons opinion...karma or an angel intervene's by allowing a box of badges to get in the way. thats all Mr. Observer...you have lots of money go and buy the uniforms and show them here...

I have to say that the advantage the American, British and Canadian collector has had over many years was the ability to find things brought back by G.I.s and kept locked away in trunks and garages...like original Tuxedo badges...and they have these things to compair with what shows up now out of Europe.

John, don´t appear so negative - I know you´d call it realistic.

But in reality not everything has been thrown away, destroyed or looted...äh...brought home by your guys - there are still very interesting pieces coming out of families or very old collections here.

The huge change of generations, the financial crisis, the enormous market potential, increasing official and social acceptance and price development lure them out of first or second hand.

                      One cannot deny that.

Hello, I have been searching for a nice SS officer tunic to go with an os cap I have. Based on this info, price and condition it looks to be a difficult path to go down. Im in agreement that people along side the "evil dealers" ask way to much $ and they themselves contribute to the high prices they often complain about. I have fearlessly posted my full name at the end of 1500+ posts in the 10 years I have been here, anyone is free to google my name etc. It seems there are those that complain about pseudonyms, nicknames and they themselves also hide behind theirs. Still searching.

How about Karl Wolf ? This was supposedly his. Any big SS personality KC winner you can have their minty conditioned uniforms for a mere thousands of dollars.Anyone remember the original ( there was a fake one of those also but it disappeared after the faker found out the original was in American hands) Kurt von Gottberg uniform from many many years ago that was captured by a GI...the condition it was in..nothing like any of this stuff .

When a young author went to visit Karl Wolf for an interview...Wolf only had his ring left and gave it to the young man as a gift. I guess he forgot he had a uniform left to.
