Truely a unique grouping - many thanks for sharing it!!!

Key-objects of what the spirit of time and involved people was all about and this spirit resided in the family after 1945 as well - really Waffen-SS.

      Hello Mark,

have a look at pic 5,you can see the tunic was rebuild at some parts with other cloth,so maybe here hits the shrapnell.
Fritz Hahl, former Ostuf. and Regimental Chronist wrotes that a shrapnell from a mortar grenade was the deadly hit.

In the German Book RK-Träger der W-SS from E.G.Krätschmer is the story about his last days,I try to translate a bit:"Lotze was Inspektionschef in Bad Tölz,In Octobre 44 he visited his old Regiment WESTLAND and after an attack he took over command of his old 5th Kompanie he led 2 years ago.In the Night there were 11 enemy tanks in front of the own positions and Lotze destroyed 2 of them with the Panzerfaust. He led then a counterattack with his men and 2 own tanks on 2 Hills
and took them in own hands,he took 25 Prisoners and he and his men killed nearly 100 enemys.
Inside this attack he wsa killed. After his dead he got the KC posthum and was promoted to Hstuf.

                              .

In buying this group I consulted with Bob Hritz and Mike Davis who assisted me with the value and advice. Thank you to both of you for your assistance.

you can almost feel what did happen to this man.

a nightmare for his brother to get his brothers jacket this way back .
