SS-Ostuf. Gerhard Lotze Komp Chef 11./SS-Pz Gren. Rgt 10 "Westland"

Here is my latest grouping which was truly a great find. I would truly appreciate it if anyone could assist me with more information on him, especially his death and any more photos or photo albums on him or "Westland" that may be available

Lotze was after heavy wounds in 1943 Instructor in Bad Tölz,in his Holiday he want to visit his comrades at the Front. Here the russians attack the WESTLAND positions and Lotze overtook command over his old company and led them in a counter attack. He was hit by shrapnells in his stomach and died later.
For this bravery he won the Knight Cross posthum.

That looks like blood inside the jacket on the lining. What is your opinion?
Any repaired holes on the front from a possible injury?

Would be really nice with some close ups of the insignias

                        Cheers,
                        Felix
