I sold them because they were stained. From my recollection, I paid $200 for the 4. I wanted my money back and free tags.

OK. The lab coat is bad. Some really bad dealings going on. So, now that the cat is out of the bag what is the solution to the problem?

The solution to the problem is in Pete's words below. I recommend we use empty beer bottles though rather than rocks as I find my aim is much better after a few ORIGINAL German Hefeweizen.

Well? Why doesn't he engage then?.

          Peter,

So, you kept two tags for your collection and sold #'s 3 and 4. Now you have two in your collection and you buy the coat with the same tag and have no recollection ? How does that happen??.

Look at the original post from early 2008 where you inquire about the tags and question their meaning and express interest. Then you buy them, sell them, and purchase a lab coat with the identical tag in Europe. You could not remember that tag or piece together the previous transactions?.

Not for nothing either Peter, but the selling dealer in this should in my opinion say something other than just pulling the item. I realize he is viewed by many as a nice guy, but that does not mean anything really. I know many nice guys who are not what I would call totally honest.

If this thread has shown me anything, one of the key things I recognized immediately was that I for all the hours I spend looking at dealer sites and pieces, have been looking in the wrong place for bad apples.

Mr. Anderson who I have been backing into anyway on other items in the market, now has a new friend in me. If he is so nice and honest I think he would be wise to step up here. This will no doubt cool down but the way things are going with the web and all these screwed up deals, it is clear to me that there will be more unless certain persons shut down, and even then there is enough out there to take issue with.

No disrespect Peter and not interested in stoning you to death, but this is really just an unbelievable story to any serious collector in any field. We don't buy blind or forget a tag like that.

          Best,

          Kris

So now your telling me that I "should have" recognized the staining details of the tag when I saw it 2 months later. Sorry but I didn't. I don't have a photographic memory like everyone else.

              Labcoat

Pay attention, all you fakers out there (their ears are now pricking up). I don't know whether tags like this were ever hand stitched onto clothing, but with the SSs' focus on economy, and sewing machines just humming away, you'd think they'd have been machine stitched to the coat, like almost all clothing tags. A hand-stitched clothing tag should have been at least a red flag to the buyer, especially on such an extremely rare item. I'm curious to know if the SS emblem is hand-stitched as well.

With two in your collection? Yes you should most certainly recognized the label, maybe not as the exact label, but the label. That should have thrown a flag. Especially since our comments in the 2008 thread specifically addressed medical clothing as a possibility for use. And wellah!! now you buy one with that tag.

Kris, I bought the coat because I owned 2 tags at home. The tags are real clothing tags. What would prevent a similar tag from getting into a period lab coat. I am not saying that I did not recognize the tag in the coat, I did. So what? I did not realize it was one of the ones sold at the MAX. That I did not realize.

                        Coat

I think the point that VID is trying to make, is that after purchasing those 4 tags, who in their right mind would then purchase an astonishingly rare labcoat just 6 months later, KNOWING such tags are floating around? Even the most inexperienced collector would be suspicious.

Yes, that would have sent up an immediate flag to me.

Good point, but I go to many shows. Those tags are not just "Floating" around. Have you seen any before, ever?

Not a problem. Just out of curiosity you didn’t sell Ron any of the kleiderkasse Erel’s that he sold or consigned to Kris did you?

I also have a great idea. Lets meet at the MAX for a beer and the 3 of us can discuss all night. I will even buy.

No Nick, I did not. However, you may change your tune about the Kleiderkasse after your discussion with Ron. I would hope it would end one way or the other. I am tired of discussing it with him. He can argue better than me.
