    Peter,

Why is it that you always seem to come in behind these items and this seller in particular?. Its not just you either, its other noted experts as well and its happening more and more.

I find that interesting and its gotten to a point where I can almost tell who is going to comment and what they are going to say. High end controversial pieces and now a clear fabrication. So what does Robert's photo prove out?? it merely proves that a period photo was used to fake a piece, and again the piece shows up in your neck of the woods.

Whoever bought those tags should be named if he is a member as they have been used to manufacture a fraudulent piece.

And not for nothing Peter, if I can spot a bad piece? and I see some expert come in behind it? I have to ask how the market applies its "Expert" model. The experts seem to be vetting bad pieces and endorsing others, this seems to be the case.

That isn't going to happen unfortunitly. Look at all the shady visor caps this dealer is selling, already discussed on the cloth headgear section, any reply from the dealer, nope.

This is a very intereting thread. Great work on everyones part in working together and getting to the bottom of this coat.

Don Bible does. I stood right next to him as he examined it.

Don's opinion notwithstanding, I would agree with Graham about the GFP disc. Such cheap brass/nickle-silver construction was the common denominator of the earlier faked M9/86 style Gestapo discs. The disc photographed for Williamson's book many years ago is in a private collection according to another well known Dienstmarke expert. The materials used in the manufacture of these discs is unknown, but I would think that the quality of the material and finish would be to the same standards as the SIPO.

Apart from the material and finish, the disc on that site does not match the known original.

                Joe w,

In which book is pictured an original GFP disc?

The "original" is pictured in Williamson's book German Military Police Units 1939-45, as is mentioned in the item description on the site.

Your right Graham. There is a subtle little difference.

I received an "interesting" e-mail in regards to this "KL Lab Coat" issue earlier this morning (why me I have no idea as while I have posts in this thread, I have (as previously mentioned) no dog in this fight).

I am not, and will not, mention any names - I just am curious to know if anyone else received the same e-mail (and those of you who did will know exactly what I'm talking about here).....

Geezus, what a Fiasco this has turned out to be.......

Thankx, Vid......just curious as to who else received that e-mail.....

As we all know that those directly involved in this will not have the personal Courage or Integrity to step forward (which would basically be comparable to being your own hangman), we might as well put this one to rest.

                        SSad and Pathetic......

Give him time waiting on a call and using crackberry here. But not good and seller is a member and can name buyer if he wishes.

What good does all that do if you now know and refrain from telling the facts!

All this "behind the scene" intrigue cannot be helpful.

Hell, email me and I'll spill the dope on who bought the tags!
