Ive come across these two, one of which I have never seen before and the other only once...

I am a little sceptical about both of them, although if anyone has any further info on the artists or whether they are out and out fakes that would be much appreciated. These are the only photos I have of either.

      I have seen this one....

      Ive never seen this one....

First one is a original dutch poster from 1942!

          Hi,

Max, the first one is also the alternate variant of "Vlamingen Op" booklet (bigger than the usual version) and a real picture is used for a german recruitment SS leaftet, and the second one is also the well known back side of the "Dich Ruft Die SS" booklet.

          See You

          Vince

PS : i don't have the "Vlamingen Op" booklet variant cover for now...

            Vince,

There is also a dutch booklet with almost same dutch photo cover, that's were this poster was made of (by unknown dutch artist, which signed with S), so it's not the Belgium version.

This is the front of that booklet (small brochure), with drawing of the same artist S,which also is a poster:

            regards, Patrick

I've seen the first one for sale a number of times but it never appealed to me and it was quite low in price.

Vince is correct about the second one - but I've yet to see it as a poster and would be wary of it.

I would get some detailed photos of it - if the seller cannot give you those then forget it.

                  ss posters

                  Hi,

I have these for many years. Recently I read about some of the prices original ss posters can go. especilally on dealer sites...Amazing I must say.
Does anyone have an idea on the value of these particular posters???

                  many thanks

Many thanks for the info guys,

The seller of the second one says its already framed, so I doubt I would go for it anyway... Like you say, it seems likes its a hybrid of the booklet with some added text - and unless anyone can prove different, I would say its a fantasy piece.

Mate, even the most expensive SS posters are chicken feed in value compared to the upper and even the mid range price levels of movie and travel posters. There are a couple of WW1 posters that have hit around the $20,000 mark.

For example this poster by the art deco master AM Cassandre sold for US$120,000 in May this year. There is no SS poster I'm aware of that would go past the $10,000 price point - yet.

Third Reich posters and artists still have a stigma attached to them - I've stood next to a young blonde girl in a poster store where she thought a post war Gino Boccasile poster of a baby was cute - until she heard Boccasile was in the SS and a Fascist. You would have thought she was holding a turd seeing the disgusted look on her stupid face.

ha ha - next time someone is looking at a poster I want, I'll let it slip that the artist was a vicious Nazi who was hung for torturing children in Auschwitz. That should scare them off........

                            Hello to all,

Very interesting and a great variety of SS posters.
                            Love the artwork.

Is there any posters out there that depict the Greek campaign by the LAH with words in a poster saying Griechenland ?
I am aware of the short time of this campaign but Greeks did put up a fight and the LAH did go there.

I dare say some of these already shown do indirectly.

                            Thanking you

                            nco.

Ive only seen postcards that depict the route that LSSAH took through the balkans and on into Greece... Other than that I dont see that there was any need to create a specific Waffen SS Poster for the Greece region as they were not seeking recruits from there.

I have seen some nice Greek related posters for sale recently (not SS related)...

I thought this period one was quite fitting even given Greece's current political and financial climate.

                                Thanks Max,

Do you happen to know the reason why they didn't seek recruits from there?
Considering they were the only country forced to confront the armies of four countries Albania, Italy, Germany & Bulgaria simultaneously.

AH did admire their courage to fight to the death including their past history in the arts which help influence his Reich in Architecture and Sculptures.

To be honest over 3000 years the country has seen tougher times for the record.
With what's happening there now, most believe its a walk in the park for them and they'd wish all their previous problems were similar.

Never seen this image before, nice post card.

                                Much appreciated.

                                cheers,
