If I had my way I would have a bunch of those fakers shot so it would send a clear message to the rest. Yeah call me a Nazi if you want...
I am indeed still around, but barely collecting. More window-shopping than anything else.

Miss the old Forum. I still don't understand what happened and why it disappeared.

I, too, would happily have the fakers shot -- but in the knees first. It seems there are so many now -- it's like half the stuff is fake, and the other half is thrice over-priced.

    Thanks for remembering me.

      Hi,

a small post about a confirmed fake french SS postcard.

I don't know how many postcard were made for the french Waffen-SS, at least i found one "Notre Waffen-SS" / "Our Waffen-SS" postcard (the mortar section - don't know if the whole serie was made for France or only a few selected ones), and one color postcard "La Waffen-SS t'appelle ! Protège ta patrie" (Anton drawing).

The Anton postcard is pictured on the "Axe & Alliés" special issue n°1, and i own an original too.
(i will ask Tony if he can insert picture of my original postcard and the HH fake)

I found not less than 3 identical fakes.

      - an owner on the ACTL messageboard
      http://actl.forumgratuit.fr/t363-car...ta-patrie#1973

      - a current auction on Delcampe
      http://www.delcampe.net/item.php?id=...75384f230eed2f

      - a... past auction on Hermann Historica (!)
      Item 7098, auction 59, April 15-16, 2010

I'm in contact with the owner of the first two postcards, and i will probably send an email to Wolfgang at HH.

On the three postcards, only the one on Delcampe is sold "as if". The card is not altered, anyone can check if it is an original (the seller was contacted today, i gave her all the infos telling her that with her help this well known repro is now identified).
The first and the third postcards are clearly modified to HIDE the suspicious proofs that they are fake :
      - someone wrote at the back of the first postcard (but in an unsual way for the WWII), and a gentle stamp is "hiding" the circle with "63" in it...
      - someone used an acid to make disappear the circle and the "63" of the HH postcard !

How to spot the fake ?

      - the fake as a... printed horizontal fold (! probably on the original used) on the recto
      - the fake as circle with "63" on the top corner on the right !

      Other differences :
blank/white margin : more large on the fake
color of the text on recto : less bright on the fake
length of the text on verso : less wide on the fake
color of the text on verso : darker on the fake

      See You

        Hi,

a "funny" scan taken from "Les Cahiers Français", a propaganda monthly booklet printed in UK during the war for the french occupied territories (1942-1944).

The page is taken from the April 1944 booklet.
It shows an original french Waffen-SS poster (the famous one with the panzer IV), and the way some french people modified it.

        The original text :

"Si tu veux que la France vive, tu combattras dans la Waffen-SS contre le bolchevisme"
("If you want that the France lives, you will fight in the Waffen-SS against the bolchevism")

        The modified text :

"Si tu veux que la France vive, tu combattras contre le boche"
("If you want that the France lives, you will fight against the Jerry")

This is not known if the modified poster was really done (a good way to be taken to prison, and sometimes to become an hostage) in occupied France.

        See You

        Vince

Biografie degli artisti: Ottomar Anton, Gino Boccasile, Harald Damsleth, Hermann Otto Hoyer, Ernst Krause, Wilhelm Petersen, Hans Schweitzer "Mjölnir", Finn Wigforss, Wolfgang Willrich. Manifesti e grafica della Waffen-SS europea: Germania, Danimarca, Lettonia, Estonia, Francia, Fiandre, Galizia, Gran Bretagna, Ungheria, Croazia Bosnia, Italia, Finlandia, Norvegia, Olanda, Russia, Vallonia.

This interesting work offers for the first time, a large collection of propaganda that was produced by the various SS-Kriegsberichter and offices of the Waffen-SS, that was used on all the European fronts of the Second World War. The book analyzes and collects the detailed biographies and valuable achievements of Ottomar Anton, Gino Boccasile, Finn Wigforss, Wolfgang Willrich, Harald Damsleth, Wilhelm Petersen, Hans Schweitzer "Mjolnir", Hermann Otto Hoyer and Ernst Krause. It also features works by the following artists: Emile Louis "Lou" Manche, Pouwels Pieter, Frans van Immerseel, Erich Palmowski, Grod, Anders Peter Knud Hougart, Michel Jacquot, Höch, Alexis Kremkhoff "Gard", José Bertau, Birger Cranner. The purpose of this volume is to examine in a scientific manner, how these documents were created, mostly between 1941 and 1945, by skilled illustrators of different nations, to persuade hundreds of thousands of young Europeans to enlist in the Waffen-SS. The book also documents the exquisite artistic value of the propaganda. The reader does not need to know Italian, as the book is eminently photographic in nature. It brings together posters, drawings and illustrations devoted to the combat units of the European Waffen-SS. Index: Editorial by Federico Prizzi, Foreword by historian Ernesto Zucconi, Presentation by Harm Wulf. Biographies of artists: Ottomar Anton, Gino Boccasile, Harald Damsleth, Hermann Otto Hoyer, Ernst Krause, Wilhelm Petersen, Hans Schweitzer "Mjolnir", Wigforss Finn, Wolfgang Willrich. Dieses Buch dokumentiert auch den exquisiten künstlerischen Wert der Propaganda. Der Leser braucht kein italienisch zu können, da das Buch durch sein Bildmaterial hervorragend aufgebaut ist. Es fasst Poster, Zeichnungen und Illustrationen, welche den kämpfenden Einheiten der europäischen Waffen-SS gewidmet sind, zusammen. very interesting postcard T.K. this seemed to be a "local" postcard from Böhmen Und Mähren, and i'm pretty sure the postcard is real.

Another french fake postcard is available on Delcampe.
Now everyone can see the main errors on the fake.

Like Vince, I believe it is okay but I cannot seem to find another one with the Bohemia and Monrovia details on it. Heydrich's old stamping ground.

                              But it does look good.
