A good example of an artist who became recognized and accepted again after the war was the Flemish PK-artist, painter and designer of some famous SS-posters Frans Van Immerseel.
He died in 1978, after receiving important Belgian and Flemish art awards and even meeting the Belgian king. By then his SS-past was'forgotten', just like in his Wikipedia-lemma. No mentioning whatsoever of his TR-artwork.
He lived and worked near my hometown for a while. You can still visit a historic guesthouse in the small town of Diest that's full of art by FVI. Somewhat amusing when you see the dozens of posters, stain glass windows, etchings and drawings (he even designed historic banners and flags), all done postwar in a familiar style -that is, if you know his SS past...
Van Immerseel survived after his prison sentence by selling door-to-door small framed drawings of Flemish folcloric themes. I picked those up whereever I could find them, he must have made hundreds of small frames during his 'retribution' years. FVI is my favorite SS artist, a pity I don't own any of his larger recruiting posters...

Europa ist starker1943/europa is sterker.1943 (europe is stronger)

I do not know if this poster is ss related, but I love the image and the drawing. And it's a huge poster !!!

Harm - you are just a little gold mine of information on these guys.

I'm assuming it's the same Bertau that designed this one.......couldn't be too many artists in Brussels with the same name.

                            Question for Tony

                            Tony,

On your site you have a postcard for the SS Liebstandarte, but also indicate there is a poster of same. The poster should have printer identification on the bottom, I'm just trying to figure out what printer information should be on the bottom of an original. Is the below what I should be looking for? Thanks. Scott

One is José Bertau. In the poster (in Brussels War Museum http://www.klm-mra.be/ ) is T. Bertau.
Some friend from Belgium can help us to discover if is the same artist?
I thinks so but I have at the moment any document or other works of J. or T. Bertau.

If you look the firm T can also be a stilized J.
