Like I said I always thought is was a repro anyway so no lose for me as I had this for over thirty years I bet. It does bend pretty easy too ... one of the reasons I always assumed it was bad. It does have a cast look to it as well.

Well the originals of this war metal (Zamak) does bend also. Can you take some photos in good light without flash. I have found that flash somewhat dulls detail. I am not sure if lack of detail on yours is just the photography.

Also is that blob on the nose of the reverse just from the picture or is that the way it is?

How many different types of skull did the Italians make?@ i ask because i have a skull that nobody had seem before with strange pins very wide at the bottom where they attached and narrowing to the end ,it came from a local pow camp that had a large number of Italian pow's as well as Germans here's a front view ,unable to locate a rear view at the moment.
I only know of the Lorioli's in the SS deaths head version. I am not familiar with your skull sorry.

There were plenty of insignia makers in Italy though , even post Armistace 1943 in the north during the RSI period 1943-45.

          Hi,

Back again in this interesting thread.
And what about the Italian Shield, as you can see in the photo....
Did they really exist? or it is one of the Dachau's finds??

          Thank you for your help

            Hello Ciano.

As far as i know no pictures of WSS wearing such shields have ever surfaced.
Seems like was used by italian Todt units.
By the way, flag is wrong, so it's very likely foreign production (not italian I mean).

              Hi,

Thank you T.K for your input.

Concerning the Flag I guess that is German Production..

The picture was taken from the book Foreign Legions of the Third Reich-Vol 2

              cheers

"six italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".

Yes , I agree with Raffaello it is a reproduction. Stay away from all but accepted eagles made of zamac as illustrated in this thread as good.
