    Hi to all !!

    1;Tom
Your case and bino is original, by the bino are all the letters grind out and new painted. The case is original, if someone want to know what the marking inside of the case is I will tread it here.
    2; Francesco
Sorry but I would not keep my hands in the fire for this bino !! The case is for an police Dienstglas, the rain guard for a late war modell, and bino is to 99,99% a fake
The only real SS-Dienstglas are made by Hensoldt (Vilaba Roma) and one other factory.
    3; Stroh
its correct, this modell needs an rubber rain guard, but note!! you cant take the normal rainguard for the 6x30 modells, there is a speciall for the bakelit bino.

    cheers

        Hi Ed,

I would love to see your "cnx" set. I have yet to see those with any protector in place as issued. Will give a friend a call on the rubber protector. I agree the correct case is rarer than the binos.

BTW, nice to see you on the forum, look forward in chatting at the SOS.

Somethink about the logo on the bakelitcases and the rain guards, ...,...,.....

The markings on most pre-war items are easily identified as makers logos. However the German military, perhaps thinking ahead realised that such logos could easily provide enemy intelligence with potential targets for bombing. It was the German Federation of Electrical Engineers who first attempted to present guidelines for material classification in 1924, as many of their members were involved in the process of bakelite production. The national material proofing house (materialprüfungsamt), based in Berlin Dahlem to come up with the solution. In December 1938 the "MP" devised the common logo, around which information on the maker of the item, as well as the chemical composition of the bakelite could easily be displayed.

The logo you see on bakelit parts is an "outer circle"
an "M" for Material and a "P" for Prüfung (Testing)
            for example:
            43. Dynamit AG, vormals Alfred Nobel und Co, Abt. Zelluloidfabrik, Werk Troisdorf.

            T
Carbolic Resin (Bakelite) with a textile based filler

hope it helps you to know what this logo is
