An usual type of backing but sewn to a piece of fabric of the same style of blue-gray cotton..........any idea what type of uniform this was from?

This image of your eagle has been cropped and lightened; any better?

I think many of these on blue/grey artifical silk backings were for use on flight jackets.

You know John, you may have the answer. The fabric that eagle is sewn to appears to be from the lightweight Luft flight jacket. It had me baffled for a while. Makes perfect sense......

cut blouse eagle

This one is from one of George Petersen's bins. Looking through George's goodies Willi and I felt like kids in a candy shop.

Any, and every serious Luftwaffe collector owes George Petersen a debt of graditude. Never before, and probably never again, will any one person amass so many Luftwaffe uniforms, insignia and equipment in a single collection; from ultra rare tropical smocks to common breast eagles, from perfect Generals uniforms to simple collar tabs..... Thus preserving it for future collectors and the education of us all. Sincere thanks George!

Trop. shirt eagle

This is one of my favorites from George. A simple tropical shirt eagle, but it is a pattern that I have a twill backed version of that was removed from a tunic, and another twill backed version in this pattern still on the tropical tunic.

Though I had several nice tropical shirt eagles, this is why this eagle is special to me. Note what the US GI wrote on the reverse...

Thanks Steve. The second eagle is a well worn wool backed one cut from a flying blouse. George had it and the price was very fair. I can't pass these up. There was another I should have snagged but did not; had already spent too much Will email you details after work.

For me it's a fake eagle..
I know there're some weird ducks among the originals ,but this one can't convince me that quick..
It's a rather strange design..
