    Hi Mike,

When you can, would you please post a photo of your other BEVO eagle? So, it is the same design as the one on your tunic, and the one I posted?
    Thanks and regards,
    John

        I agree Tor.

That eagle is odd Steve...but, I think many of these are odd.

Here are a few more. Also saw a nicely done repro the other day sewn to a piece of wool. Had a very large zig-zag pattern on wool that looked to recent. Plus, everything else on this guys table was bad.

          Another eagle ..

          John,

Here is the other one I have in the collection. Very similar but slightly smaller than the one pictured before. Again, it has a backing sewn on with material inside to give it a "puffed out" look on the tunic.

                Thanks Mike,

Yes, that is another nice, and good, variation. I think you are correct Jos, the eagle in your period photo is like Mike's. Note the tails on this last example, Mike's eagle that is still on his tunic, Willi's eagles, and mine. None of the tails on these "flip" up like the one Steve posted. Can anyone find a period photo of an eagle that looks like Steve's?

Also, do not focus just on the "flipped up" tail. My greatest concern with Steve's bird is the design of the head, mainly the eye.......

                Thanks,
                John

Boy, you're a tough one to please ! John.

If it wasn't for the fact it is stitched to a uniform ( and I take your previous point about the fake eagle on a piece of cloth !) I would have agreed long ago that it was a fake.

Tell you what I'll do , I'll send it to you to examine and if it's wrong I'll let you burn it for me . OK ?

                  Best ,
                  Steve

Save your postage Steve! Like Willi, I've seen several of these, all machine sewn to "cut" wool at the last two shows I was able to attend. I wondered then where they were from. IMHO, look for repro eagles on smock material in the future......

Still, I too would like more proof.
                    Best,
                    John

                          LW Breast Eagles

                          Hi all,
Great thread! I've posted a few pics of the only two cloth pieces I have in my collections. Please have a look at these and let me know your opinions...
OR . I'm far from an expert on LW cloth.
                          Thanks!
