It should be pointed-out that Kelly, and others, utilized Ken's site as nothing more than a vehicle to sell helmets. Kelly consigned through Ken's website for no other reason than sheer efficiency. Guilt by association is completely unwarranted.

Inferring some non-existent symbiosis between the two is wrong, uninformed, and, potentially damning to our chosen avocation. Don't be so quick to indict the innocent in this public court. The hobby is cliqish and has a very long memory. Don't ruin it for everyone.

I wasn't going to get involved in this thread but I must speak out against those who are inferring that Kelly Hicks is somehow involved. As Cody so eloquently and correctly pointed out in his post above, Kelly was simply using Ken's site as a tool to sell some helmets for a friend. To think otherwise is completely without basis or foundation. There is no business association.

In my opinion you cannot find anyone in this hobby who has as much integrity and moral fibre as Mr. Hicks. My support is behind him all the way.

Well said....I live not far from Kelly and am a relative newcomer to the hobby. I was lucky enough to get to know him and he is one of the most honest & genuine people that I have ever met.

To drag his name into this because he used a website as a vehicle to sell a few helmets for a friend who is downsizing his collection is unwarranted, unfounded and dispicable.....

Can only echo the previous thoughts about Kelly. Get back. Loretta, and leave him out of this one.

I have been watching this thread unravel over the last couple of weeks with some dismay. It is somewhat sad to see a cancer of paranoia setting in here with some people in this hobby. To further see someone like Kelly Hicks have his good name dragged into this is just simply wrong. The best defence against forgery and tampering is knowledge. It is Kelly Hicks that has been one of the pre-eminent sources of just such knowledge in recent years. It is his scholarly research that has had added value and interest to many collections and collectors themselves. Just when it seemed as though all that could be said about helmets had been said, along came the highly informative SS Steel. That volume breathed life into many a dormant SS helmet interest. I agree with Darryl that Kelly is being absolutely unfairly characterised by some members here. This attempt to tar and feather everyone in sight is as dangerous to this hobby as the forgery and tampering itself.-Frank O.

Ty!! there is a partnership between Ken and Kelly... They both get together and sign authenticity certificates.. Both have there name sign together on the same certificate. This mean they share opinions, this says partnership to me.. Or is Ken making the money and Kelly does it as a favor to Ken. I also see that Ken has removed the certificates and are no longer available, When I wrote that Kelly was next I was referring to the Helmet police. They will find something on him soon. Charly

Charly ! Wrong... there is no partnership. They obviously know each other, so if a collector wants two signitures than I would think that's possible. But, I would bet that wouldn't happen often. The COA were offered by either Ken or Kelly..

I could go one. Maybe later.

Kelly Hicks is above reproach, as are his COA's.
Charly, do you have a dog in this fight?

As pointed out, there is no "official" business partnership between Kelly and Ken. The COA's come from different people, or perhaps even signed by both if its one of Hick's SS helmets, but they are not in partnership.

The interesting thing here is that Kelly has also been "duped" by Ken in the sense that Kelly chose Ken as one of the most "honest" dealers to work with - and in the end, it turns out Ken has manipulated even Kelly - not just us.-C

Anyway, will the buyer be able to show photos? It will be nice to see the helmet again, especially the split pins inside and etc., to see how good the "art" is...
