These are the ones I cannot make out 100%-He was in Spain very early 1937, he still smacks of Abwehr or some other intelligence agency. Military Advisor maybe.

We sing your praises- My Mom could read this stuff like eating cake and I was too stupid to learn it as a teenager.

I suspect Army Intell/Abwehr involvement. He was all over the place with multiple units. The classified files would not be in the OKH papers. I have one file like this and he was sent on pre War KDF cruises all over Scandinavia and composed super detailed reports of Norwegian harbors and shipping.

Hardy is the man. I do not want to speak for that untalented short German Canadian monkey but if you send us hard copies of the whole file we will figure it out for you.

Mike, I suspect one will be the Order of the Italian Crown - those were often given to Wehrmacht liaison officers.

                          ,,

                          Pauke and everyone,

Thanks for this. I really appreciate it -- there is no chance I could have ever made that out from the copy of the document.

I do have separate documents in the file regarding the Italian awards. I will scan and post those as well.

I will also scan the page regarding the "Kolonialorden" and perhaps you can make it out.

                          Regards,

                          Mike

More excerpts from the file ...

The first is the document regarding the "Ritterkreuz des Ordens der Krone von Italien". Presented in 1938. Heggenreiner had served in Spain at the time.
