Measuring 16" wide and 35 1/2" tall, painted wood construction with a gold eagle over a silver and black wreathed swastika, with a red and silver "*N*S*D*A*P*" panel. Reportedly used in a wartime propaganda film, though the production and nation of origin are unknown. Fair, with some cracking and dents.

    Estimated Price: $1,000 - $1,500

          recent photo confirmed ...

One of my favorite collecting events is when a unique
item is actually confirmed in a period photo. Not talking
about any common item often seen on the market, but
rather rare obscure artifacts, such as Napoleonic Eagle
standards (which started this thread), and also including
some other nearly one of a kind like objects, such as
movie prop standards. My most recent photo epiphany
          case is from the
Ancient Roman theme 1953 MGM film
          "Julius Caesar" - a hand
          carved wooden snake standard
which likely also dates back to the silent
          1925 Ben-Hur,
as the design has a spoked chariot wheel center with
          snakes, and
the banner flown below contained a horse
          figure. Chariot wheel flags
          were shown in MGM's 1959
          Ben-Hur sound remake.
Would be nice to know if the
other Roman prop movie standards also survive?

There is a an Eagle from Waterloo in Broadstairs, in England. The British Army announced Napoleon's defeat from this building and they stuck his standard on the roof. It's just a replica I think - thought is would be interesting on this thread.

Yes, there is something special about a battle damaged French Eagle!

It would display nicely with this first model Bearskin as worn by the Imperial Guard at Waterloo.
