What do think to my new MG34!

    Hello there,

I was just wondering what are your opinions on my new 1940 dated MG34? It is 936 (Suhl?) maker and Waffenampt 4 stamped. Number is 7578 and has many matching numbers around the gun. Deactivated in 2006, but has many moving parts, and can be partially stripped. It has a black Bakelite butt-stock and it came with a black 50 round drum. The brown leather sling (maker lkq, dated 41) and the 50 round ammo belt I purchased separately. Below are some of the pictures of the MG34, enjoy!

Please don't hesitate to tell me what you think!

    Well,

it looks really nice . I like the brown bakelite grips much. British deactivation...? It might have been refinished but looks nice. The drum might be Russian capture being so black. Can you post a detailed pic of the sling front hook? It looks post war but seems to have a WaA. What parts are not matching?

By the way, you have put the belt the other way round...Like that you wouldn't be able to shoot a single round...

Have a look at this article about german MG slings:

      Hi Carles,

Unfortunately I am not able to post a picture of the front sling clip, but it is waffenampt stamped (80 I think) and I think that the drum is russian refurbished. The parts that are not matching are the butt-stock, collar, feed tray and feeder. I do believe that the leather part of the the sling is real (lkq 41), do you?

Finally, if I were to sell it with everything you see here, how much as a rough estimate do think it would go for?

      All the best, Patrick

                  Hello again Patty D,

I can't understand if you have just bought it, how is it you don't know the price?

I would depend on state and deactivation ( old spec?), plus the country you live in or want to sell it to. I take the reference price from Germany, an average MG34 would be about 1400 eu, add the drum, sling and ammo belt 200 eu. or so more.

                  Have you changed your bipod?

                  Carles

All together, the mg34 with drum = £850
The sling and belt = £90

                        So overall £940!

                        Is that any good?

                        All the best

                          Well,

That IS a good price!! Anyhow, I do think the sling might be post war. How is the MG deactivated?

                              Hi Jeff,

Sounds good to have 5 of them, do you have any pictures?

                              All the best.

                              Hi Carles,

I believe it is new spec deactivation with some moving parts and can be partially field stripped as well. (Done in the UK)

                              Hope that helps

                              Patty
