I let my matching numbers MG34 go with drum for £800 last year, you can find them at sensible prices many places, how many dealers can currently ask £1200 plus in the UK is unreal!

      Hello there,

Does anyone else have any opinions on the sling, it it the clip that people think is Post war or is it the whole sling?

      Thanks for your help, Patty

As far as I know war time hook buckles are 'closed ring' and your's is open. I would say all the sling is post war.

          Hi Carles,

I see what you mean about the front buckle being open, and maybe that is post war, but in my opinion the leather on the sling is ww2?

the length of the main buckle attached to the pistol grip is too long for an MG34 one imo, either post war or repro.

                  Hello everyone,

As promised below are some more photos of the MG34, including some more pictures of the sling as requested. Unfortunately my camera struggled to focus on the waffenampt, marking which reads WaA 80. I have included a picture of the maker mark and the date. Which is lkq 41. Hope this helps and enjoy.

looks like the sling is one of the indian aged repro ones, iv had one before, marked up in similar way, i dont think its original, easiest way to tell is the main buckle length that is too long

But the MG34 itself is 100% original :P

The Bergflak website is a great source for mg34/42 sling info, if you want to check it out i also recommend the book MG34-MG42 German univeral machineguns, it is an excellent source of info, i have a copy myself, i am mainly a collecter of mg42 items, my collection is only small at the minute, with a few p tins,e tins, ammo boxes, barrel carriers, belts and ammo etc, and my next addition will be a good example of an MG42 itself, and eventually will probably get an mg34.

Looks like a nice mg34. Does the receiver on the mg34 match (with an original factory number)?

                              Hello Patty,

I don't like the front hook buckle, the paddind nor the stamp. I guess I wouldn't like the grip buckle either. The rest os the MG looks nice just as should be . The ammo is just a mixed up of non period rounds, seems. What I like most are the brown bakelite grip plates.

I believe it is new spec deactivation with some moving parts and can be partially field stripped as well. (Done in the UK)

                                Hope that helps

                                Hi Patty

As far as 'New Spec' deacts in the UK goes, this term only applies to Sub-machine guns and Assault rifles, i.e. post 1995 changes in the deactivation laws.

The deactivation requirements never changed for Shotguns, bolt action rifles and Machine Guns such as your MG34 & MG42 etc etc.
