Most of the police officers I have talked to say that the thugs are almost never armed with AKs or ARs or other assault weapons. They almost always have the cheapo pistols like the ravens and brycos. Almost always junk.

I never talk about guns with the hunters at my school because any gun other than a remchesterby is useless to them and they almost have a morbid fear of anything not made for hunting.

Another excellent video. Do you think Schumer really cares?

Excellent video, she sums it up in the last sentence, the people's right to bear arms should not be infringed on any more than they are for government, as protection from the government is their true purpose, all other uses are incidental. Now THAT lady is a patriot.

Earlier in this thread I had posted that I was denied access to my own guns that had been on consignment at my friends gunshop. Now ..yesterday...I receive a letter from the FBI saying that I must submit fingerprints to prove my identity. Apparently...I am a convicted felon somewhere in the US!! Never have had any dealing with the law other than a couple of speeding tickets...that were paid. Do you think...if I was a convicted felon...that I would have taken my own guns to sell through a dealer??? This have made me take great pause and realize...how right we are about our gun rights!!! Great comments on this thread......Dana

Sadly your situation is far from unique. The gun control advocates and the media would make the public believe that the "instant checks" are near fool proof and clean methods to cull out the people who by law should not have firearms. The proven facts are that this notion is far from the truth. Hundreds of thousands of legal citizens (Fed's report here not mine!) have be denied and or delayed gun sales via this system. There are many glitches and inaccuracies and the burden to establish the correct records is on the buyer.

Many law enforcement personnel can not own firearms by the conditions of the instant check have have recieved waivers. This last fact was one of the big hurdles that had to be worked out when the original law was passed and was really worked hard by the FOP and other organizations.

If you have never been fingerprinted before, how would your fingerprints identify you?

Perhaps it is time to consult an attorney. The NRA could refer you to a firearms friendly attorney from your area. I think that you should make a bit of noise, if you are truely legally allowed to own firearms.

You might also enlist the assistance of your US Senators and your US Representative to assist you. Many times, one call from a person in the senate or house will cut through miles of 'red tape' in mere seconds.

I have been fingerprinted before.....I am a RN and my fingerprints are on file with the State Police. I had to be fingerprinted and have a background check to get my nursing license!! I called the State Police here and asked if I could get a copy....they stated I would have to have my fingerprints taken again. I asked then.........Do they change???? Anyway......If I have problems after I fill out all the paperwork.....I will be making "quite a bit of noise"!!!! This really bothers me........I can't go buy a gun legally...and is not a good feeling.......Thanx for the advice...................

                fingerprinting

Copies of prints are basically useless. It appears you fell into a situation from a triple I search. Feds are requesting prints to exclude you from the III hits. They have some felons prints on file that has some matching characteristics ( dob, name, ss, ect). Just remember they enter your prints into AFIS and they stay there forever.
Law specifies you have to be licensed to receive you own guns back once you release control of them. Problem faced by dealers and gunsmiths is that in the interim time they have your guns you could have had your license suspended or revoked. They have to check to see if you can get them back. Many times (9 out of 10) guys loose their license to domestic violence cases or some women getting even.
I have to deal with these problems as a firearms licensing official for a PD and as a gunsmith. When buying NFA weapons new print cards are always required.
In this state (MA) electronic print scans are done every time you purchase any type of firearm, purpose is to identify you as who you are and check the current status of your license.

                    AWB effect

I just was informed about this...it is shocking the number of states involved. This basically allows the government to control ammunition, and tax it to the point where we will no longer be able to afford ammunition, Obama at one point proposed a 500% tax on ammunition, this went unnoticed in the press of course. For some of you who think this won't have any effect just consider what the price of Diesel fuel did when the government enacted changes on the amount of sulfur allowed in fuel. By controlling ammunition, your right to use a firearm is effectively controlled. Chris....
Contact your senators and congressmen, make your stance known, let them know you are spreading the word, and will remember them for their positions during the next election cycle.....

Its about remembering that the left has NOT taken over America. Dubya and company let us all down, the people are pissed and expressed it.
It is about taking the time and effort to let whichever idiot, regardles of party, know that the Second Ammendment is foremost in your thoughts, and vote.
The LEFT has won a lot of victories by adhereing to one simple rule that our old Grandmothers used to tell us:
That the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
                      Be the squeaky wheel.

                      God bless and Merry Christmas,

                        awb

I had an experience last year when I decided to put one of my k98's up for consignment. After a month, I decided to take it back. When I went to pick it up, the owner, (I have delt with him since 1956) pulled out all the paper work as if I had just purchased the rifle! I couldn't believe it! Now I had a rifle with paper work, which I didn't have before, since I got it off a collector. He said that was the law, and had to fork over the state transfer fee as well!
So now this weapon is registered, some-- where~

So now....I go to the State Police...have my finger prints done...mail them off to the FBI.....call NICS later that same day to ask a time frame on getting this taken care off. The lady there was very nice.....I explained to her my frustration and she said she was unsure of the time frame but I would be getting a letter back letting me know what the decision is. About 2 hours later I get a call from my friend at the gun shop.......he recd a call clearing me and allowing me to get my weapons back!!! Go figure!!! He said that this was the first time he had them reverse a denial by phone. So...I am not a criminal after all!!! Dana

Dana, a friend of mine had a somewhat similar situation although he had a very common name, Harry Smith. He went to renew his drivers license and they told him that his license had been revoked for a DUI/DWI conviction that he had never made restitution for from 1969 in Pennsylvania. He laughed and told them he was in the military then and had never been to Pennsylvania but they showed him the computer print out that showed his name and date of birth. Apparently there was another Harry Smith that was born the same day as he was in 1949.
It took him nearly a year to get it straightened out and in the meantime he was arrested for Driving With License Revoked so now he has a criminal record. He is still trying to get that cleared off of his record as he wasn't really revoked. It was a nightmare for him as he drove a logging truck for a living.

The whole thing is a pretty big mess and there is a lot spinning and downright lying about what is going on from both a lot of Gov. agencies and the media.

At a point a few years into the "instant check" policy it was released by the FBI and or BATF that there had been (as I recall) about 150,000 "denials" for those trying to buy firearms. When asked how many were arrested as felons trying to buy when prohibited the answer was something like 300!

As more digging and forced disclosure came to light it turned out the well over 90% (maybe 99% not for sure) were later approved! Meaning that well over 130,0000 legit qualified citizens were messed over by an inaccurate system.

So I am confused..........the FBI doesn't even get my fingerprints...yet I am cleared and approved to get my arms back....2 hrs after I talked to the NICS person???? Was it just because I was a "nice guy"??? Or is there a snafu in the system??? I did ask the lady how many felons are caught trying to buy weapons.....she was unsure.....just said there were a lot of stupid criminals out there. Much like to guy yesterday...who ran from the police....straight to the police station...which he thought was a building he could run into and hide!!! They only had to walk him 20 feet to his jail cell...........where they should remove his testicles and prevent him and other dumb@#$s criminals from passing their genes on to the next generation of idiots!!! Thanx for all the input......Dana
