If you read what Bob was talking about, it was the call in part he said was the second registration, this is what I was talking about.
Yes, when I stop being an FFL, I have to send my records to the ATFE and keep copies for 20 years.
I may be incorrect, but I think the NRA got that(Janet Reno's) provision thrown out.

I think we are talking about 2 different things here. The first thing that happens when buying a gun is the instant background check (NICS). This does not identify the gun. It only checks to see if the buyer is able to buy a gun. The computer records for allowed purchases are supposed to be destroyed after 18 months. Denied purchases are kept for 10 years.

During that time, for both allowed and denied purchases,

System records may be disclosed to the news media or members of the general public or to a victim or potential victim in furtherance of a legitimate law enforcement or public safety function, e.g., to assist in locating fugitives; to provide notification of arrests; to provide alerts, assessments, or similar information on potential threats to life, health, or property; or to keep the public appropriately informed of other law enforcement or FBI matters of legitimate public interest in accordance with 28 CFR 50.2. System records may also be disclosed to the news media or general public in other situations of legitimate public interest where disclosure would not constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.

Americans don't like to be forced into anything suddenly. That is why Marxism, gun registration, etc. has to be introduced slowly -- one step at a time.

switzerland like many other countries EXCEPT USA NON heritage ( Like sweden you have to be 25% swedish if you can trace the family tree) or NON residents NOT born in said country can NOT own land ever or even become a citizen unless buy the king, queen, president etc. we USA citizens which means less and less every year have no place to run, we need to clean up the USA NOW before it gets so out of control it CAN'T be fixed!!!!!

Each thread has a ranting or two by delusional immature rooftop or mamas basement Rambos promising bloodshed and bodies "when they come."

Well, all these boards are public, your identity is easily obtained by determined effort.

If the worst happens they will first go to you folks making death threats and
pick you off in any manner of ways.

At work, traffic stop, snipe you off your lawn mower, whatever.
"They" firmly believe the ends justify the means.
You have made open threats and have been identified.

Somebody is watching you , look out your window, be careful.

I am not happy either, but I will not shoot the sheriff, he's a decent guy.

It is a problem that we may have a hard time getting a historical assault weapon.

the way I see it is, however, when somebody can walk into a school with a 30 round mag, and a gun that can fire in rapid succession; and with each bullet have the potential to kill one person with one bullet that scares me.

hopefully our government can impose a leniency on older historic firearms.

The spray and pray capability of the 30 rd mags and a semi automatic rifle is WAY over rated. If someone used granddaddys Ithaca 37 duck gun and double 00 buckshot, you'd see a lot more carnage than we've ever witnessed - EVER! That's why this so called assault weapon thing is BS. An Ithaca with 5 rds in the mag tube is carrying 45 projectiles. Fire 10 rounds and you've shot 90 projectiles into a crowd.

I can not believe what I am reading.....leniency? The RKBA is ours not the goverments or the politicians. If the goverment wants to impose more draconian restrictions on our God given rights they should go through the process to abolish the 2nd amendment in our Bill of Rights and nothing short of that.

The funny thing about the above observations is that the guys that made all of the death threats and threatened to turn our country inside out are the same ones who are assuming power in Jan09!!! Who was "watching" them?!!

You might want to with hold judgement on your sheriff being a "decent guy" or not until you see if he will send his SWAT into your or your neighbor's house to sieze your consititutionally protected property if so directed by the "authorities".

Someone can also take a Humvee or similar large vehicle and drive into a crowd of folks at a parade and kill numerous folks, that scares me as well.

The focus of the anti gunners is to take little bites. It will start with the AWB. Then it will be all semiautos or handguns, then it will be all guns. Your freedoms will disappear with small bites.... That is why it irks me when I see a fellow gunowner saying...."well geez, those black evil rifles aren't good for hunting or anything else for that matter...they ought to be banned."

We all need to stand together. A good analogy....Cocaine is highly destructive in our culture, look at the damage it does. It is illegal to possess Cocaine, yet criminals still have no problem acquiring it every day. Same thing with guns, take the RKBA away, and only the criminals (and government) will have them. Banning or illegalizing an inanimate object/substance will not keep it out of the wrong hands....
