A live Luger and being allowed to fire it would be a dream come true.....
Not to be however.......As someone over here recently found out.
He had a large collection deactivated grenades. I don't know why but he was raided by the police and they found a live shot gun, a WWI Luger and another pistol.......Straight to jail for five years.....

Steve, was that just recently? I was around at my mam and dads last weekend and he was twittering on about my deacts and that I should be careful as someone had just been raided by the rozzers because a neighbour had complained and that all his stuff had been confiscated and he had been fined. He said he had seen it in the paper but I'd not noticed anything and since he had his stroke a few years back sometimes he gets a bit mixed up and 'confused' so I wasn't sure what he'd seen and I'm wondering if this was it?

This was last week and the guy was in the Maidstone area.....
He said the Luger was a bring-back by his Grandfather and he was looking after the other pistol for a friend......Bad idea.

Cheers Steve, sounds like that's the one he has seen in the papers then. The old man presumed they were all deact guns but it would appear they obviously were not.
As tempting as it would be the hang on to the Luger (if it really was his grandfathers bring back?), I think in this day and age sadly it definitely ain't worth the risk with the automatic 5 year sentences.
Mind you, some lucky sod got away with it up here earlier in the year. Someone had been shooting on some land nearby where this man lived (legally shooting as it was the landowners son) and for some reason this other fellow had taken exception to the shooting and had gone out and over to the 4x4 (they were lamping) and had reached in and somehow grabbed the rifle, I 'think' he then 'confiscated' it and took it back to his cottage where the police were called. I cant remember the ins and outs but from what I remember he was arrested for taking the rifle and for whatever reason the police searched his house and found a live Luger (WWI think?) hidden away. Details are a bit vague in my mind now but I'm sure he said he had 'found it' somewhere. He ended up getting fined for various offences but he escaped jail somehow (bloody lucky!) and the Luger was, presumably, destroyed.
