You can own firearms in Ireland, they recently scrapped the UK laws. The laws are confusing though, so check with your local police before buying.

You can own certain pistols, rifles and shotguns. They completely changed their laws, but I dont know if you could own a K98 over there(I am not sure if it is smaller than 308).

Dream List
The Realistics:
1. Gewehr 98- I will probably get one of these "way down the road" because they are even more expensive than the K98s.
2. More K98ks- Always. Eventually, I like to get a Mauser-Werke product like a "byf", a "42", or an "ar".
3. Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk 3
4. Gewehr 88- A shop in my town is selling pretty nice ones for $225 out the door.
5. Turkish Mauser- Best thing, next to a K98k.
6. Russian SKS

The Next-to-Impossibles:
1. MG42- Who wouldn't want one of these?
2. Gewehr 43
3. K98 Sniper with the "High Turret" scope, preferably Zeiss.
3. P08 Luger- Preferably the "Artillery" variety
4. STG44

Why is a G43 next to impossible? They pop up from time to time with the exception being original sniper versions, which are very hard to come by.

I am guessin price. A all matching common AC44/DUV44 run 2500+ in undicked with condition for teh run of teh mill varient now add BCD or ther oddities during production keep adding ++++++++ up now a Panel cut q (Q) block almost 4k WOW i am glad i got mine early at these prices i will not be adding any g/k43's to my collection EVER again.
