It is a 'Yikes' alright. Looks to be a early product from Chomutov, Czech R.

Pretty sure it is not a ground Rohm unless factory done, but the spine is dead straight and maker mark untouched and well away from the cross guard so I think that we can rule that out. I will take and post some pictures to look at.

I'm not the least bit surprised the serial number is in the DALs. Sadly though, with a laser etched blade, I would place little faith in the number being original.

I understand what you mean, Billy G -- it may well be that the blade was replaced in this piece, but the rest of it may be original to the period, including the grip, crossguards and scabbard. That said, it is probably of little comfort if the blade is bad...
