        Hello Steve,
I cannot tell if the cap is good or not but on every original luftwaffe side caps, regular or tropical, there is a stitching inside, all around the cap, near the edge which is missing here.
        Let's wait for other opinions...
        Regards, Pierre

Thanks, Pierre, I hope there come some more opinions ... 160 hits already and no answer ...

By the way, which stitching do You mean is missing? There is one inside near the edge as far as I can see.

            Hello,

in my screen it looks like dark blue KM cap with LW insignia? The eagle is darker that cap.

              Hi Radek,

              thanks for Your opinion!

On my screen it looks black ... I do not think it is dark blue. Of course, only an in-hand inspection would bring clarity here.

              All the best,
              Steve

The cap and insignia is original IMO, but the interior pic shows dark color bleeding which I find disconcerting. There is no explanation for this. Probably a postwar dye-job.

                    Radek,

the pics do not all show the true colours, the originals were so small and bad that I put them through photoshop to get more contrast and sharpness. That also means that the colour is brightened to highlight the details ...

But thanks for Your efforts, I appreciate that!

                    All the best,
                    Steve

Here is a pic of another cap which was dyed black.
It is much more bleeded IMO.

Perhaps the inside of the overseas cap in question is just darkened from wear? As I said, I am no expert on headgear, just wondering.

To clarify: I do not own the cap which I show here but I wonder if it is worth to buy. HG Panzer caps overseas don't surface that often.

                        Hell Steve,
Here is the stitching I like to see on a Luft sidecap. BUT I'm not telling it MUST be on every LW sidecaps, it's just something I check first. Maybe some original LW sidecaps do not have that feature.
                        Regards, Pierre

Just checked the "Luftwaffe sidecaps" thread here and found that genuine caps may have or may have not the second line of stitching at the edge.

                            http://184.172.36.50/forums/showthread.php?t=208648

Look for example post #10, a sidecap owned by Jos LeConte.

It you could get better pictures of the cap outside in the daylight it could answer a lot of questions. The color of the cap as well as if the lining has black dye bleeding through. I also believe the insignia on the cap is original. If I were thinking about buying this cap I would want better pictures.
                              Regards,
                              John
