Yes all my S&L are zinc,the lettering is ok on some and poor on others. Ebay have not had any badges on for a while,he must have given up.The round pin on my S&L is long too. I have never had a problem with them,always believed in them.

The two I posted above are very interesting. I'm pretty convinced the hard to read is also an S&L. The obverse is crytal clear. Catch exactly correct.

Much better photos of the one on the eStand would be a great contribution. I'd like to see if it's really gold or a different color of bronze. The two I show above. I thought they were both bronze but look how the photo brings out a goldish color.

On the Lauers there is no problem identifying gold from bronze. They are crytal clear.

My gold Horse Driver's S&L is unmistakenly gold like a Lauer.

Let's see crisp photos please of the one on the eStand.

I have seen washed out looking gold S&L awards too,I wonder if over the years with them being zinc the wash or whatever they coloured them with develops a reaction to the zinc and deteriorates.I also have a silver one,see it in the box on my post with the others, in the box that looks so dull and has a very matt finish.
My gut feeling is that the E Stand badge is a ggod one.Put it this way,if I were needing a one I would buy it.
I have seen these sell for near on £200 at fairs.

I just got this Horse Driver badge...

In looking at the E-stand badge, has the pin been replaced?
It could be the pics but the the pin appears different than the examples shown here IMO.
It seems to be missing the indentation at the top of the pin that is left when pin curves around the hinge and is bent into position.

I agree now the badge is original but It does appear the pin has been replaced. Every other S & L badge has gilding to match the badge color. This one is shineyeverywhere except the under side around hinge. The pin does not have the flat spot either. I would like to see a few other S & L photo's

I received my gold zinc S & L rider's badge today. Intersting how much diferent they are than the much more common Lauer. The Lauers are much better looking. The horse badges are quickliy becoming my secondary collecting focus after Luftwaffe.
