i believe they are Lto R gold silver and bronze. The gold one rettained more gold on the pin, and appears to be a zincer washed..but i may be wrong.

Very nice! My mother tells me she tried to get transferred to a horse training school, the only one of its type all 'manned' by ladies. Have you heard of this school? The Reich had a need for horses albeit very limited in the war for their 'cavalry' officers.

The 8th SS Cavalry Division cuff title...

...and, that looks like the Qualifed Farrier arm badge. Geprueftes-Hufbeschlagpersonal. May be in the case upside down.

              Hello,
Very nice items guys, and Paul nice piece in addition to the others you had. Is that gold paint that someone had put on there or what? I have only seen one other that was not black in color and just wondering. I do believe they were all black iron originally?

They are being reproduced in the UK or were last year where I saw several on Ebay from a seller in Middlesbrough in the UK.

I am not a self proclaimed horse badge expert. I have a few and have been looking for a gold. What concerned me about this one is a few things; 1)the other S & L versions I have seen had very clear lettering. This one is missing a lot of the lettering and more so is that where that lettering should be the gold wash is very strong. Hard to believe S & L would let a badge out the door with a large portion of their name completely missing. In a gold version no less. 2)Other S & L pins I have seen did not extend out well below the bottom of the badge. 3)The gold that is there looks very bright and splotchy considering it is a zinc badge.

I am looking for other comparisons to either confirm this is similar to known good badges or not. I would also like to see the known repros.

                  ...I only have Lauer's...

I wonder if that S&L is zink? I have a bronze zink lauer and the lettering is weak.

...I do have an S&L, not zink, crisp and clear, and gold:

Hmm, I haven't catalogued all my stuff...

Here's another S&L for the Rider's Badge in bronze, very crisp, very clear...

                        Here's the one I was telling you about that the lettering is very faint, the badge is larger slightly than the Lauer, and exactly the same size as the S&L;

There's been little to no interest in these for years, so looking again now at these I see the S&L and the faintly marked piece are probably both S&L. The one bronze obviously S&L the other one, I'll let you determine the color... Here they are side by side...

Maybe this will help you with the one on eStand.

Everything seems exactly the same to me except the pin/hinge. Notice the one on the right here is the much nicer obverse!

                              zinc

Yes all my S&L are zinc, the lettering is ok on some and poor on others. Ebay have not had any badges on for a while,he must have given up.The round pin on my S&L is long too. I have never had a problem with them, always believed in them.

I've resized my obnoxiously large photos... I don't like threads where you're using the slider to read a post.
