There's some sort of a mark on the edge of the piece's reverse, toward the bottom of the photo -- could be a maker's mark or a silver content. I can't make it out from the photo; what does that mark appear to be in-hand?

Also just noted the markings by the foto, not before in hand...
And when taking this detail pic, I noticed another one on the needle, reading "Metall":

Imo just a female brooch...a silver fashion piece..and yes most probably from the period.
