Silliness Aside
On a serious level, Mr. Gottlieb removed the item from auction, so IMO, there's nothing to sweep. Many dealers would have simply retorted that authenticity is an opinion, and continue to advertise the item. I was one of the 1st people to not like the book, but it's unfair to criticize Mr. Gottlieb, especially after he pulled the item.

It appears that what you pointed out in other dealers has occurred here.
And Mr. Doering, I don't see how these comments would be intended to get a rise from Craig as he frequents this forum on a very infrequent basis as he has written. Apparently Craig intends to seek opinion of a higher authority.

It may have been mentioned before (sorry I couldn't read all the posts) but most of the writting is "Sütterlin" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%BCtterlin ) which I would not expect to find in anything from that year (pre 20s) and location (bavaria).
Of course there are numerous other issues with that "gem", many of them have been addressed already.
Cheers

If I may be so bold, as an active member of the Political forum that this thread be moved to the correct forum?, the documents/paperwork forum, this will enable members who are interested in signatures/documents to view this and add comments if they so wish? this is not a political item and the thread doesn't seem much about the item anymore in any case, thanks Sean

This thread has run it´s course and unfortenately the item seems to be not worth further attention and discussion anymore anyway - it turned out to be a questionable piece to say the least.
In the end Craig made the best out of it and acted in a honest way and has my for that - I bet everybody would be pleased to see other dealers acting likewise in future as well.
We´ll also see if other dealers are or will be watched likewise.
