250 participated in person / attended the event. The others would have gotten their's probably by mail.

          Coburg Plaque Count (1941)

There are 2 known versions of Coburg plaques shown in this thread; 1941 and 1942. Below is my quick compilation of the known 1941 Coburg plaques based off my personal knowledge and after conducting a page by page search of the current 132 pages of this thread:

          1941

          Another forum (1)

Kai Winkler (1 - only the upper portion)

          Robert H (1)

Gary B (1 - from recent Loesch auction)

Ratisbon's just auctioned one (1 - only upper portion)

Jeff Clark (1 - only upper portion)

          Richard (1)

          Private PM (1)

So that is a maximum of 8 x 1941 plaques (5 complete and 3 only upper portions). This does not take into account/consideration that some of those listed above might be double counted (i.e. sold by one member and purchased later by someone else and listed again)

Approx 25 years ago I visited a well-known British dealer who showed me a plaque which he said was liberated from Viktor Lutze's house as war booty.

I can't remember whether or not it was inscribed to Lutze but the finish was worn with polishing over the years so I didn't buy it.

I think we are seeing that one could take quite a number of years (and a lot of money) to put together a "complete" collection of Coburg items. The list seems to be growing in terms of different items related to the event as we update this thread.

Maybe this is the answer how many first pattern CB were awarded.

Does Herr Sander provide any Quellen/sources for his book? It seems he has relied heavily on Schwede-Coburg's book as that source clearly states that 250 veterans showed up for the festivities and presentation, after which Hitler arrived during his election tour and addressed the multitude assembled in the sports field to the north of town.

250 has always been established by the Schwede-Coburg source as the number of veterans at the 1932 event who received an award. The 436 number is from a list compiled some time later by the OSAF of those who had so far received the award.

Of course Jeff Hanson's work on the Coburg events in a past "The Military Advisor" should be considered a preeminent source.

Coburg Plaque Count (1942 & Unknown)

                    Updated plaque count.

                    1942

Der-Hasse-Fee (1 - mounted on plaque cracked, sold thru Weitze?)

Erich S (1 - just the upper portion framed)

                    So that is 2 x 1942 plaques.

lets make a definition of a „complete“ Coburg Collection, what belonges there, CB, award document, plate, plaque, ...?

In the last 20 years I saw , bought and unfortunally sold a lot of items concerning to Coburg, but there never was a complete owners grouping. So now I try to buy all I can and hold it together.

Haven't seen that one before and it would be a must have for any Coburg collector.

An amazing poster. New stuff keeps coming up.

I think there were two reported "almost full" groupings of Coburg artefacts belonging to two individuals. I think sadly some items were already broken up and the original owners (in the threads) have sold them.
The two groups however, do not have the plate or plaques.

Another question is how many of us actually have a full set (not necessarily from the same award holder).
badge, stickpin, plate, plaque, maybe cert?

Should the event tinnie be included? If a recipient bought a plate and a plaque, I am sure he would have picked up a tinnie when he first got there, before the award ceremony?

A souvenir of the event for sure. Notice it’s missing the important word “Mitt”.
