Thank you Matt. Appreciate the kind gesture.

A shame that Mickey's badge as photographed isn't as clear as we'd like it to be. Does anyone have a badge marked '1' ?

As far as i know, only Bob has a RZM marked piece and I've seen those with the 189 marking, which I suppose refers to the Deschler firm, or not?

You can see my RZM-Marked CB on post #15.

I see that FS sold one of these 2nd-patterns last month for €9900.

              I thought it was 10k?

Where did that piece go? (i.e. anyone know who is the new owner)

And I suppose the CB with RZM accompanied with a 189 marking is slightly even more scarce?

Goodness gracious. i.e. rarer of the rarest.

I am thinking of adding the old price to one of mine and put it up for sale with him.

That's a lot higher price than the second pattern that sold at the SOS last year for 8500.00 USD.

Well my ability or desire to own one of these just ended if this is the price now being realized by these. It would not cost this much to fly my family of four to Germany for a nice 2 week vacation. There is no doubt in my mind which one of those I would choose and which would be enjoyed by more members of my family outside of myself.

I read this before. Wondering how much vacation you are getting to make all those trips to good ol' Europe you are dreaming about.

Or maybe you can just do the trip and be done with it for a while. Once you have been there, maybe the urge vanishes and you can put your money where your heart really is.

Yes. I remember Richard saying this before. Better act fast or otherwise you can also throw in Paris Disneyland with dinner at the Ritz.
Either prices at SOS are at a low, or the European dealers have upped the stakes. Either way there is only one way - UP.

The CB is the new SS TK.

Not a good analogy Mil. Think that the badge is finally getting the attention that it deserves by collectors and it's the new gotta have award for serious deep pocketed political collectors.

I stand corrected Erich. But I have to agree with you that collectors now see the value of political awards and items related to historical aspects of the era. No longer are collectors just into general service awards. The Gau side of collecting is also gaining momentum. We also have another thread discussing the appreciation of art (from that era) by other collectors.

Please collect for the enjoyment of the items you intend to accumulate, chasing that next 'hot item' makes no sense and is depressing me when people keep talking about that, this is not an investment long term it is primarily a hobby and all that goes with that.
