Im confused, as always thought a silver party badge was included in the case with the three german orders?
Here's a pic from the Wolfe-Hardin site of the one i mean. Am i starting to go demented and completely wrong or was there a silver badge in here?

Think we should start a separate thread on the silver party badge?

        Erich,

Are you asking about a thread in reference to the silver party badge as within the German Order case or the purported silver foreigner's badge?

            jabnus,

No, you're not losing it nor going coo-coo.

In fact there are two of the silver versions of the Gold Party Badges in the German Order case as you've shown. One each 24 & 30mm.

            Why and What for???

            John

              Hi John,

Thanks for confirming, but what did you mean then by the knights cross large presentation case? Don't think i remember a photo with silver versions of the gold party badges in there?

              brst regards,
              Gaston

ps: maybe a new topic on the silver badges is indeed a good idea to keep the Coburg topic ontopic.

I thought that I would bring the conversation here back to the Coburg Badge with this not often seen photo of Duke Charles Edward of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha wearing his Coburg Badge.

Perhaps it's just my failing memory, but does anyone recall ever seeing a photo of Hitler wearing a Coburg Badge? He certainly wore the Blood Order (with and without the medal) and also the GPB, but what about the Coburg Badge?

I have a photo of him wearing the 29 RPT badge but not the CB.

Thanks Jon and Erich -- if my memory is failing, then at least it's in very good company! Any thoughts on why AH chose not to wear the Coburg Badge? If there were occasional (or annual?) events planned around the anniversary of the Battle of Coburg, that would have been an excellent time for him to wear his medal...if he attended any of them...?

Come to think of it James, it would have been a little silly for Hitler to wear a badge with the motto "Mit Hitler in Coburg."

Well, we know for sure that Hitler attended the 10yr anniversary in 1932 where he personally handed out the badges to the 436 or so recipients.

We also know that he attended the 15yr anniversary in 1937.

After that, the war was on so don't know if attended any of the others.

The last Coburg anniversary celebration was held in 1942 which member Andreas has an original invitation in his collection. My Guess is Hitler did not attend due to issues on the Russian front.

Makes me wonder what went on in the town after 1945.

I once had a porcelain plate without maker mark in my collection given to members of the HIAG depicting a kinda Jul tree made of branches of fir tree and surrounded by a motto and "Julfeier in Coburg".

That plate was bought by the Wewelsburg museum and is on display within the new SS exhibition.
