NPEA Uniforms
Bob et all: The NPEA DID wear the standard DJ/HJ uniforms in addition to their NPEA uniform. IN my new book on NPEA Daggers I have a period shot of the different types of uniforms worn at NPEA Anhalt in the late 1930s early 1940s from one of the student's scrapbooks that I have in my collection.
Also, the age of students ranged from 10 to 18 years of age and the membership in the DJ and HJ was required at the schools.

Thank you!
I wanted to say thanks to all of you who have replied to my thread. It makes me mad every time I get burned by "fakes"! Hahaha! But, that's how I learn.....the expensive way. I also have a HJ-shirt that I am bothered with. I'll post it as soon as I can. Oh....Nice items everyone! Thanks for sharing. This is the best $25.00 I have ever spent! Take care.

for sure (according to Littlejohn's HJ book) NPEA students did wear a dark (winter) uniform similar to the one that started this thread. And pictured in that publication are very young "DJ" Deutsche Jugend pupils (age 10-14)
and their NPEA shoulderboards were the narrow ones, as shown in Ron Weinand's display post (bottom left corner of display)with the letters spelled left to right in one line...
So why not other HJ members as well? At the school they attended they would wear their correct NPEA school uniform with sleeve eagle (when available) and on other occasions (school break etc...) their regular HJ or DJ attire.
BUT that does not make the uniform that started this thread correct nor genuine. Its possibly still a good uniform (not theatrical or movie made) but the insignia and a very bad cap turned me off... but it can be easily fixed if the Alenstein school sleeve patch (and boards) are indeed bogus!

The SS style sleeve eagle appeared on the NPEA Uniform in place of the School named triangle in late 1943 to early 1944, depending on the student's entry into the system. This evolved with the SS take over of the NPEA school system during those years and was not seen in the beginning of the NPEA or during the schools' formation.
The HJ uniform continued throughout the existance of the schools. Another fact that should weigh into the items used at the schools was the fact that students wore the HJ Knife from the age of 10 to the age of 14 at the school and didn't receive the NPEA Dagger until the fourth year during the Waffenleite ceremony. A common mistake by the TR dagger collectors is that they assume that all students at the schools wore the dagger. Not so. Students had to be in the school for four years to become of age to be issued the dagger. Hence, the rarity of the NPEA Daggers and the fact that each school had different ages and different number of classes. Some schools didn't have the NPEA Dagger as they only had the younger students who didn't qualify for the NPEA Dagger by age and wore only the HJ Knife.

NaPoBi at Ballenstedt
Bob,
Could the eagle have been replaced on number 3? The early political education school, a pre-NPEA school, was located at Ballenstedt in 1933 and they used the name NaPoBi (as seen on cuff titles worn by the students) and had this type of hat with the early pointed winged eagle (M29).
I have about 325 photos from this school to include all the big shots like Rust and Hiller (headmaster). I will try and post some of these in the future.
This school turned into the NPEA Anhalt (Ballenstedt) in 1935, so it was a short lived school and was really the fore runner of the NPEA system and, as I am told, the only school of its kind before the NPEA system.

maybe another dumb question, but have you canvassed pretty much all the researcher/writer/collector types here and abroad - mollo, jill halcomb smith,
hugh page taylor etc.?
plus there are archivtsts you cd. email - wash dc's nat. archives has immense foto (and text) files; ditto gemany's militaergesichtliches forschungsamt, imperial war museum etc.
